Colors?!

:D Gamma Phi's--you're confusing me! lol

I've started a business making photo albums-i am in the process of creating my sample line-- in each sorority's colors and symbols.

Well, my best friend is a Gamma Phi alum from U of San Diego and said:
Our colors are dark and light brown, but we only ever used pink and white.

The National Website says:
Formal colors: Brown and mode
Informal: Blue and gold

Another Gamma Phi friend said her chapter used dark and light blue

Websearch of Gamma Phi sites turned up alot of blue and white, navy and pink, dark and light blue, blue and gold, pink and black and brown and mode.

So WHAT colors SHOULD I use on your books?????

HELP! :)
Amy

colors

Our formal, official international colors are brown and mode (also know as light and dark brown). But since our symbol is the Crescent moon and not many people wear light and dark brown and informal international colors and blue and gold.
Now each chapter can choose to have special chapter colors. My chapters colors are pink and black...can you tell we were founded in the 80s !!!
Our flower is the pink carnation so that is where the pink comes from.
So to answer your question I would say to do the photo album in brown and mode. I know as a member I feel especially proud when our official colors are used.

I agree. Brown and mode, while not exactly the most beautiful colour combo, would be the most approporate colours to use. The fact is that many chapters have various colours that they use. We do use a lot of pink in our chapter. And as meggphib said, they use black and pink. To ensure that the scrap book is universally correct, the only colours to go with, unfortunately, are brown and mode.

Hmmm now my Gamma Phi sources, who are alums, have basically forbidden me to use brown and mode. Said "We would have never ever ever bought anything in brown"

And Gamma Phi merchandise in my local greek store and online seems to heavily rely on pink as well....

I am sooo confused! lol

Maybe if your customers are not into brown and mode you could incorporate pink. Obviously you are running a business and your final decision should be influenced by what you will sell the most of. To be honest, I think what ever color you made the photo album (whether it be brown and mode or pink) I think sisters would still buy it.

When I was a collegian, the "official" informal colors of the sorority were pink and white. (The official brown/mode colors were the same, but not used much.) A few years ago, internationals changed the informal colors to blue and gold, but I just got back from International Convention and I didn't see much of anything in blue and gold! It's all still pink and white. I say go with the pink.
(But then again, I don't mind brown and mode together... It's a bit understated, perhaps, but it looks nice.)

All the other "informal" colors look nice, and dark and light blue used to be our colors (remember the history???), but those are Kappa Kappa Gamma's colors...

I think you'd be fine using brown and mode since those are the formally official colors, or pink and white, which tends to be the colors on all the products endorsed by Gamma Phi Beta internationally...

thanks everyone. I'm going with pink and white, found gorgeous pink and white fabric.

Colors

I can tell you that at our school, we would rather have merchandise available in brown and mode. We have Phi Mu at our school, who's colors are pink and white, and all of the merchandise available to us is in their colors, not ours. We also found on a website for Greek merchandise that our colors were listed as pink and white because that's the only colors that people ever see when looking for things to buy.

I actually found some BEAUTIFUL light brown/tan fabirc this weekend, so I decided I would do BOTH a brown themed photo album AND a pink themed album.

:)

Good Job Amy! I'm so proud of you! :)

I know the UBC Gamma Phi Beta's used to use navy blue and pink for their colours.....

GPhiBLtColonel 08-27-2002 01:54 AM

where....

AmyCat -- where can we see/buy your products??? Another popular fabric and where I think the blue & gold came in is that celestial fabric that is navy blue background with gold crescent moons and stars etc -- it is a very popular print and although I like the brown & mode -- I see them as understatedly elegant colors ladies!!!;) I do also LOVE that celestial fabric as well! Pink is an okay choice too but as nyrdrms said, those are Phi Mus official colors and as I live real close to where Phi Mu HQtrs are (and Atlanta area is big Phi Mu country), I would not choose pink except as a third/last choice....
That's my 50-yen opinion!
;)
