First Enron, and now Worldcom...
 

Hey Ladies,
After getting off of the phone with my EX cell phone company because they were trying to charge me 1,000 plus instead of my 39.99 plan. I signed on AOL today, and what do I see headlines about the same exact company WORLDCOM... :eek:


But my questions are how many other companies are stealing money to make the rich richer, and what is America really doing about this all so common problem instead of the companies laying off the tens of thousands of people literally?

WorldComm maybe headed up Enron Creek. It hid losses and mismanagement and will be laying off 14,000 workers... starting FRIDAY! (What a way to start the weekend, huh.)

Worldcomm users should call and ask about their accounts and how this will affect them.

I heard it was 17,000 today on the news.
 

And the books were cooked to the tune of 3.8 billion bucks!!! Not to mention that Arthur Andersen did their share of accounting for them (and Enron, too :eek: )

If you want to do something:
Contact your local congresspeople (senators and house of representatives) via letter or email and let them know that you don't appreciate this and ask what they plan to do to avoid the loss of jobs and pensions in the future. My congresspeople heard plenty from me during Enron, and guess who will be getting emails from me after this episode???

During Midterm Elections, follow the money, and avoid voting for candidates who take/took large chunks of cash from companies like and including Enron and Worldcom.

Our members of congress work for us, the people of the United States of America (at least in theory, anyways), so get your money's worth.

Women of WorldComm in the works?
 

It's a shame that we keep being swindled by the fat cats that sit on Capitol Hill, and there cronies on the boards of these corporations. WorldComm is done.
Seems like the only company benefitting is Playboy. Look out for the "Women of WorldComm" issue. I have to give it up to Hugh, though. Not too many people could have come up with a scheme to have seemingly respectable women lose their clothing for peanuts.

Very good suggestion!

The sad thing is that all of those employees are out of jobs and they have families and bills to worry about as well as finding new jobs. These greedy corporations should be ashamed of themselves but their really not. I wonder how many other major corporations are swindling their employees, customers, and investors out of millions at this very moment.

Your statement has a lot of people that would normally invest in the stock market, cds, roth iras, mutual funds thinking the very same thing. I'm really watching my mutual fund carefully right now and I just told my advisor to proceed with caution because we cannot trust corporate America. The good old times of the late 90s is gone because of a few greedy Corporate executives at the top wanting it all for themselves. Congress and the powers that be need to step in and monitor these firms very carefully or we will be in another great depression.

Be sure to look into supporting congressional candidates who support campaign reform so that fewer politicians can profit from the Enrons and Worldcoms at the expense of the American taxpayer and employee.

The economy is already being thrown down the hill...First Enron, now WorldComm....greedy ppl sure know how to mess something up. I hope that the ppl that have lost their jobs will be okay, cause times are rough and are not getting any easier. -Yemaya-

You can do what I did when I heard the news, pray for them and their families and keep them in your thoughts.

And now Xerox just admitted to corporate wrong doing! Why - oh Why are some many American companies dishonest? I believe these folks would sell their souls to the devil for a buck!:mad:
