Getting to Know You
 

Recently I was talking to a few of the girls and we were talking about better ways for the new girls to get to know the older members. I know that we can't make them do little quizes or make them talk to a certain number of themfor hazing issues.....so I wondering if anyone out there has a great way for the new girls to get to know the rest of their sisters and for the older members to get to know them too without crossing that invisable hazing line that everyone tries so hard to stay away from?

An idea...
 

An idea that has worked in some chapters is to have older members and new members paired up each week. Actually, it works with all members too. Every week the pair takes time to meet to chat or get together for coffee. The time can be set up on their own schedule and keeps it nice and relaxed for the members.
This was a voluntary project in my chapter where we signed up each week. It was a ton of fun and worked! :)

we had the same thing at my chapter. they were called rose sisters and each pair did something a couple of times that week. it was really nice for new members.

We always had a pledge active retreat about two hours away and it was 2 pledges to 2 actives in a car typically. That way you talked all the way there (so many big sis/lil sis pairs came from this) and on the way back you aren't supposed to put the same people in your car. We always have little games like snowball fights where we would write an interesting thing down about ourselves and you wadded it up and threw them around the room at each other then you sat in a circle and you had to read it and guess who it was... we also did a sister scavenger hunt where each active put something odd about themselves down and the new members had to write down who they thought it was and then the opposite for the new members, they wrote down things about themselves and the actives had to guess who it was. It always makes things interesting.
I am really going to miss those retreats.
