I don't know anyone!!
I really want to rush this semester. Unfortunately I am a commuter student and I don't know many people on campus. Out of the few girls I know, none are planning to rush. Would it be 'weird' to attend a rush party alone?

Don't worry - the main point of going through recruitment is to meet people. You'll find that you'll quickly become friends with the other women in your group and you'll meet tons of people at the chapter houses. Most people rushing don't know anyone else, either, so don't fear!
I met this wonderful girl in my rush group and we ended up pledging the same chapter. It's been (gulp)18 years and we are still the best of friends, talk several times a month, etc. Good luck...relax and enjoy yourself! ------------------ Fraternally, Barbara Zeta Tau Alpha Alumna If you have to go around telling everyone you're in charge you're not much of a leader. don't worry about that! at my school, all the rushees are randomly assigned to a rho chi group. all the girls in these groups rotate through the parties together on the first night of rush. you don't get to choose who's in your group, even if you have friends who are rushing. and on the following nights, you are assigned to attend the party at a specific time for the places that invite you back.
the point is, it doesn't matter at all if you know any of the rushees in the parties with you! the point is to talk to the sisters! at my school, the way the parties are structured, you'd have no chance to talk to the other rushees during the parties, you're so busy being introduced from sister to sister. these aren't "parties" like you're thinking of..... it's not like you stand around a keg with a group of rushees waiting for the sisters to talk to you..... the sisters come to you right away---that's the point of the parties. these parties are highly structured so that you're always talking to a sister. |
