Re. "expelled but not returned"
Anyone here been following the Expelled But Not Returned Thread? Anyone else notice that our name appears several times?
When I pledged in 1995, we had 115 chapters. Despite opening at least two a year, we now still have 115 chapters. What's going on here? I realize this may be opening a can of worms here, but are we having unusual problems with numbers? AXD has a lot to offer and great record of being progressive, as well as not hazing and the like, so what are we doing wrong? (I'm pretty sure most of the closures have been numbers, not disciplinary.) Or is this happening to the other sororities, too, and I just haven't noticed? |
it's not just you!
As our favorite freak Michael Jackson says...."You are not alone!" My sorority and many others are having the same problem.
Like everything else there is a boom-bust cycle. A lot of chapters open during the boom and then when the bust comes, everyone wakes up and realizes they overextended themselves. A few groups have avoided it, but not many. |
We too are having a number problem! The problem at our campus though is they are not regulating the cap for the other sororities as npc says it should in the rules. If a house is under quota on a campus they are suppose to lower the quota for the other houses til the struggling house gets its numbers up.
On our campus the other houses are pushing to raise quota even more even though our house has low numbers. I would love to get a rep. from NPC out to our campus to help us but so far we have been pushed under the rug. If any of you have some suggestions for getting this rule enforced i would love to hear from you. TFJ and good luck to other chapters! Sarah |
just gotta know how to work it!
Well the boom and bust is a big problem everywhere... We just lost our phi sigma sigma chapter here at Toledo... (though we got a house cause of it) but When I joined my chapter there were 13 girls (fall 2000) my pledge class doubled that to 26 this past year we got to 45.... on Top of this we had NO HOUSE and NO HELP from panhel and the other chapters on our campus were at total... which hurt us cause they looked more exclusive to PNMs we found that the whole key to keep from busting is to COB COB COB... and for some reason my chapter has got the groove when it comes to COB's... our chapter is big on getting out there is talking up being greek and going "fuzzie" alpha xi, talk to people you know you don't know everyone just strike up a convo in class like "you ever thought about going greek?" you'd be surprised how many say yes or those that say no... can be very impressible... our busting chapters just might need the help with COB....
though it'd be cool to see us break the curse of 115! ~Valerie |
Well, we've got Boise and Methodist coming this fall. And they'll be recolonizing in the spring at CWRU. I'm going to do everything I can to be out there for that! Any chance any of ya'll from Toledo will come up to help out?
