this whole MTV sorority life thing
does anyone know where AZD nationally stands on the "MTV Sorority LIfe Show"? I am just interested bc I have become way to involved in the other thread about it!
|
What did ya'll think of the show? I have very mixed opinions but keep having to tell myself that its edited by MTV so you can trust it too much.
Xi love, Tina |
i have definetly mixed emotions on it.

I don't know about nationally but I do know our advisor told us to have nothing to do with it.

I know that we have been told to stay away from contact with MTV but I am not sure about the message boards. The show is stupid. I have some opinions but I am not sure if I should share he depth of them. I will say this however, I like that A Xi D is the thing in my life that I share with my sisters and only my sisters. I don't need the rest of the world who has a psychotic infatuation with reality TV to use my sorority for their entertainment.

I am watching it right now.. I am embarassed.. this is horrible!!! they make us all look like a bunch of fools... very mixed emotion. this is really not giving sororites the best out look
by the way.. who is this sorority that they are focussing on? mel |
by the way heather, I totally agree with you that what I know about alpha xi is for me and my sisters.. not just anyone watching this on television.. I think this is a perfectt example of devaluing the preciousness of all sororities.

They are a jewish interest sorority called Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi at UCDavis. I read on the general message board that they are an associate member of panhellenic at their school. That is why they can use archaic terms like pledgemaster and rush etc.. Tonight should be an interesting episode. It looks like some of the "pledges" are going to get pretty stirred up. Let us all learn from these girls....DON'T PUT YOURSELVES ON TV!! You will be edited into a character that entertains! :-)

Good call Heather.
I just saw the show for the first time yesterday and I have mixed feelings about it too. It makes sorority girls look like a bunch of shallow bimbos who party all the time and also get mad at each other a lot. (Which does happen in real life but I would like to think less often). However, I actually think they had a good idea on this particular episode: on the weekends, when a lot of girls go out partying, someone--previously designated-- stays at the house, sober and "on call" for a few hours, ready to pick people up if they call for help. They did this sort of on a rotation schedule--you get one weekend per month or so. I frankly think that's a wise idea; plus, who couldn't use some extra study time? |
I don't have cable at home, so I don't get to watch it. I tried to get my boyfriend to tape it for me but he always forgets. I am so glad that it is not a National sorority being portrayed, especially Alpha Xi Delta! I want to watch it just to see how MTV is making sorority life look. I can't turn away from those reality shows! I'm hooked!
