University of Michigan-Flint

A few months ago I was talking to an older alum of my sorority and she had mentioned that their used to be a chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon at the University of Michigan-Flint. Apparently they had lost their charter in the late 80's or early 90's.

I am trying to put together a history of Greek life at UM-Flint and I haven't been able to find any information on this subject. I went to www.tke.org and I could not find an e-mail address for someone that I could send this question to.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Go to the who to contact email page on TKE.org . Message somebody that looks like they might know. if they don't the can point you in the right direction.

Try to get a copy of "The Bairds Manual of College Fraternities." It gives the founding and I believe the closing dates of all GLO's on a campus. Even the service groups etc.
Good luck.

I finally received an answer!!

I received your message regarding knowledge about a TKE Chapter on the UofM-Flint campus. In our files, I found that TKE recognized a group of men requesting colony status in 1990. In 1993, the group of men failed to meet Tau Kappa Epsilon's chartering requirements which are outlined in our Guide Book for Petitioners.

The esssential requirements are:
1. Colony Size - Must be at a minimum of 35 men.
2. Colony Grade Point Average - GPA must be equal to or greater than the All Male Average on campus.
3. Chapter Advisor - A Chapter Advisor from the local area must be in place and filed with the Offices of the Grand Chapter.
4. Board of Advisors - A Board of Advisors must be in place by a set date. A Board of Advisors Roster Form must be completed and sent to the Offices of the Grand Chapter listing all members.
5. Articles of Incorporation - A copy of the colony's incorporation papers or certified proof of filing must be on file with the Offices of the Grand Chapter.

I hope this helps.
