I just checked our schools new Greek website and I would like to say that I'm not real happy with it. I know specific recruitment information is going to be added but I think it's missing a lot of stuff.

Take a peak and tell me what you guys think.

being that the number of fraternities/sororities is so limited, it might be nice to have a brief history of each one, their philanthropies, colours, etc. I think it's awesome that they explained the difference between nationals and locals though. Having a link to NPC would be nice too. I think with some work, it'll be a great site! (although I did cringe when I saw your school had placed it under "clubs" :confused:

Looks like many of the sites I"ve seen. Basic front-page template. I think the pronunciations on the terms page is a bit insulting, though. I mean, c'mon, this is being read by college students. I think they know how to pronounce 'president' and 'benefit'.

Not awful, not great...an OK page.

I thought the pronounciations were kind of childish also.

Like other mentioned I really didnt see the nedd for the Glossary either and after reading a few it did get annoying.
One chnage that I think should happen is that all of the "City-Wide" sororities and Fraternities are NPHC's. To me either they should be stated what they are, i.e National Pan Hellenic, or they should go under nationals (cuz) they are, like the NPC, but it should tell the difference between NPC and NPHC. My 0.02 :D

Yeah, those words don't need pronunciations! I can see the benefit of defining, say, NPC, but why not IFC or NPHC? And come on, who doesn't know what benefits are? If you can't pronounce it, you aren't ready for college!

I'd also like to see more info for each chapter - name, colors, founding, number of members, gpa, a photo, etc. DPhiE has it; but AOX has just a desciption, and the Phi Sig page is broken. Two NPHC groups don't even have info. This should be standardized.

And is there a reason the "how to go Greek" page is blank? That's probably the most important info anyone looking at the site is seeking. That should have been the first page posted, not the last to be added.

I would also like to know what administrators are in charge of Greek life and links to the Panhel, IFC and NPHC councils.

I guess the "How to go Greek" page is blank because the webmaster wasn't sure of recruitment dates.

The NPHC organizations like to use the term "City Wide Chapter" because there are so many colleges in Flint they don't have separate chapters at each school, they each have one big chapter.

I think the site is flat out crappy. Please keep your comments coming!!! A website is not a very good recruitment tool if it looks like shit. I think the webmaster needs to get his head out of his butt.

Ohio State has an excellent site in terms of the information provided, although a fairly boring site in terms of design and color.

The University of Central Oklahoma Greek Life page is pretty rudimentary. It has a picture of members from various houses and then links to our websites (most broken)

That website needs a lot of work. I like U of Michigan's website. Maybe the webmaster can refer to it as inspiration. :)

Many, many schools list Greek groups under "clubs and organizations" so that's really nothing to be offended by. They are organizations, after all.

The pronunciations are lame (they should have them for the Greek letters, not English words) and the site could use some more work, but I've seen far worse. I mean, Pitt's website doesn't even list (let alone have links to) all the sororities there, and it's a much bigger system. No offense to the lovely Pitt people on here, I'm fairly sure they're as annoyed as I am about it.

I think the reason the NPHC groups were listed as they were is because they are city-wide chapters and the rush is completely different. They probably thought to list them with the other sororities would have been too confusing.

Oops :) I didn't go back at all, I just looked in the URL. Student Organizations and Clubs I can deal with! I thought that it had been broken down like Sports Teams (and then football, baseball, etc.) Religious Orgs (Campus Crusade for Christ, WELS, etc.) and then Clubs (Delta Omicron, Sigma Chi, Chi Omega, etc.... i know those aren't the ones at your school, just examples) and that was why I got the creepy-crawlies! Guess I should have looked a little closer!

Our website for greek life at my school isn't that bad, knowing we are such a small school. The site is just SO outdated, with old pics. The pics are positive potrayals of Greeks, but more than half of the people in the pictures have graduated (I've noticed most of the new members in the pics are rising Seniors... heh). They don't even mention that there is a recolonized chapter of Delta Sigma Phi!

It's pretty good to see under the Student Activities page to see there are two links: "How do I join?" and "What about Greek?" (it's funny to see the homecoming float is ZTA and DSPhi... before DSPhi lost their charter, and then recolonized! :)) I'm glad to see they have something like that, so GLO's arn't getting caught up in the shuffle of clubs. :)

It also says that 45% percent of our student population is Greek... I'd like to see the new statistics on that!

Get this, I just found out today that the guy that was in charge of Greek Life and the website resigned and is now working at another college. It took us forever to actually get a website started and now he left when he was in the middle of it!!
