AGDAlum and Me
Just spent 3 hours with AGDAlum, eating and sharing AGD stories about sisterhood. She's in town for the American Library Association (or something like that, lol). Then, I took her by the Gamma Phi House at Tech. There were actually sisters there so we got a great look at the house...of course, it's old hat to me, lol.
Anyway, it's wonderful to be able to quickly relate to someone you just met but share a strong bond with. We came up with some great increasing alumnae support ideas that we think IHQ should implement, ;) :D . She's in town for a few days until she heads to visit GC's Carnation. One thing we found is really important...no matter where you are and what you are doing, how do people know you're an Alpha Gam (except for wearing the letters, of course)? By wearing your badge, AGD jewelry or JUST TELLING THEM, :D :D Hopefully we can meet again at Convention 2004 if not sooner! AGD - Surrounded by Sisterhood!!! Loyally, Lynn:D |
Sounds like you 2 had a great get-together! I want to know more about this alumna idea the two of you thought up :)

Lynn, I'm so thrilled that you got to meet AGDAlum! Isn't she fabulous? And she's a walking Baird's Manual!
While I'm typing this, Mr. Carnation and the twins are down at Valdosta for Orientation and they've already met zntke at the motel where he works--and they're staying-- and they hope to meet AlphaGam1019 later tonight! And I can't wait 'til AGDAlum's visit! |
I just have to say that Gamma Tau has some of the best Alum advisors! If we need anything, they're always there and so supportive! AGDLynn is one of our advisors and everytime you get around her, you can feel how much she loves alpha gam and how excited she is! That's such a wonderful thing especailly since we had a trying semester. So to all you alums out there, THANKS! We never express how we feel and how grateful we are. Keep up the AWESOME job Lynn and other Gamma Tau advisors.

Gosh..I'm blushing, lol!
Thanks, sweetiie.
When I can remember the ideas, I'll post them, lol. AGDAlum is terrific..and I say this in the most complimentary way...she's the most talkative librarian I've ever met!! And I agree she really know her fraternity stuff. I mentioned that I play trivia at www.delphi.com Games are 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. each night. She said that she was interested! Boy, I bet she can "kick butt", ;) :D Off to work.... |
Boy I am so glad i am in a sisterhood where i can not know anybody but then know you guys so well!!!
I hope I get to join you guys in Georgia soon! I cant wait!! Carnation good luck to you and your girls. I am writing recs for your girls now! |
Hi, all --
I've been home for about two hours and have gotten through all the e-mail. It was such fun to meet AGDLynn, and we recognized each other right away (it did help that she wore her rose drop). The house at Ga Tech is really neat and we had a thorough house tour. After the conference I did indeed get to visit Carnation and her family. I last saw her (and her DH) in 1981--before children. They really do have 13 of them (and a dog) and the entire family really does fit into a 1400 s.f. house. The children (I met 10 of them) are well-behaved, very gracious (honestly!), and the household functions smoothly. They baked me a birthday cake and Carnation especially bought Blue Bell Ice Cream (made in the town where she and I first met). Very memorable! Laundry calls, and after that, the "garden of weedin'"..... LIEP, AGDAlum |
