Help

I am interested in a sorority, but do not know many members. If I wanted to get more information about the sorority would it be a smart ideal to write or e-mail the current president? If I do, and she does not respond then should I try to write her again?

Thank you in advance for the advice.
God bless and take care.

kiwi_99,

I think that contacting the president is a great idea. That is actually what I did and I think it was the best thing I could have done. The president took me on a tour of the house and of campus. I also got to meet a bunch of the girls and learn the basics of what being a member of that chapter would be like. I learned so much and had a blast.
Good luck!!

Allison

Kiwi -

It is against NPC regulations for individual chapters to have contact with prospective members during the summer break. All contact made with rushees must be in the name of Panhellenic so that it is fair to every chapter on campus.

I admire your determination and you can try writing to the chapter president but if she doesn't respond don't continue to contact her as it could compromise both your position and hers.

Does the sorority, or the Panhellenic Office at your school, have a webpage? You can try www.greekpages.com and find out what sites are affiliated with your school. As for me, I filled out one of those Panhellenic Recommendation forms (my school did not require them, although the Panhellenic Alumnae Office recommended them), and the sororities contacted me upon my arrival on campus (we have deferred rush, so summer contact really wasn't an issue). As a result of deferred rush, I was able to attend study breaks and house tours in the fall, and I was able to make an educated decision about which house, if any, I wanted to join.
I am assuming that you're thinking about rushing an NPC group, right?
I'd love to talk to you more about this! Feel free to email me, or leave a post on this site!
