Distractions....
What do you do to keep your mind off a subject you really don't want to think about/harp on? How do you keep your head busy and not stew on it?
|
Because I'm fortunate to have a job that I enjoy, I can forget about pretty much anything when I'm really into my work. I had a really bad day a few weeks ago where I was dealing with crap and spent the whole morning trying not to burst into tears -- but once I was at work and really concentrating on what I was doing, I forgot about everything else and actually felt almost good.
Other than that, of course, there is always shopping. I'd say running, but that's really more the thing to do when you want to think about something -- it doesn't take your mind off of it, at least not for me. Maybe reading would work -- say, reading a book about something you know nothing about and/or don't understand, so you really have to *think* about it. |
I'm with valkyrie on this one... I'm working this summer at the campus TV station as a reporter for the daily local newscast. It's lots of fun... Always trying to think of new ideas for shots, angles, scripts, etc..

I read through all the threads on GC :D

It is usually my job that I sometimes want to forget about-so I go to sleep. Of course then I have to sometimes deal with bad dreams but usually I wake up refershed and ready to start over with a clean slate. Do you own your own house? I love to re-decorate in fact tonight I am going to start refinishing my kitchen cabinets-I find little projects like this help keep me sane plus I find it fun and relaxing. Other suggestions-rent a good movie-maybe one of your favorites, or if you need a good cry sometimes I will purposely rent a movie that makes me ball-like Steel Magnolias.

Just think about the good ol' days!

I do whatever I enjoy. Shopping, going to the beach, playing with little kids, watching the SF Giants kick the other team's ass :D, hanging with friends, going to Starbucks, bubble baths... the list goes on.
But also it really helps me to write in my journal about what's bugging me. Good luck! |
I feel like I'm becoming a burden to my friends at this point. I hate being alone though, and that sucks.

i watch legally blonde! It never fails to make me feel better!
or... SHOPPING, a manicure, a pedicure - i shamelessly pamper myself when I am feeling down! |
