Solar Eclipse this evening...
Cause I am a HUGE dork, I have always wanted to see a solar eclipse. I havent tho. There will be a partial one this evening around sunset for most of the westen US and Canada. Our lucky friend OTW in Hawwaii will almost see a total eclipse this afternoon.
Here in San Antonio about 70% of the sun will be covered at sunset. Peopel in Alcupulco (sp) will see it in totality at Sunset over the ocean (now that would be a sight!) See map: http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclips...2002Jun10A.gif % for yor area here : http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclips.../LC2002-1.html Anyone ever seen a whole one? What was it like. People explain it as an almost spiritual experience. Was it for you? Whay is it so moving? |
I've seen several eclipses, but I think only one complete solar eclipse...and that was when I was in my little catholic grade school and we made our devices so that you can look indirectly at it as the ring disappears then you have that brief moment when you can stare directly towards the sun. It's really beautiful...mystical? Perhaps not, but brilliant? certainly.
My girlfriend is going to be pissed though cause she just got back from Hawaii a few days ago. |
I remember there was a solar eclipse about ten years ago here in New York. I completely forgot about it until it got dark outside. I missed it. :(
