Congrats Greek Chat and its members. Hey tombstone which number are you? lol

SATX*APhi 06-06-2002 11:35 PM

We may have over 20,000 registered members, but if you go through the directory, I am sure you will notice that most registered users have never posted or have posted no more than 5 times!!! Can't we delete their user names if they've never posted?? Maybe I am being insensitive, but c'mon, these people have never posted! Before I found the "user name search" under the search button, I had to go through each darn member page to find user names I could only remember the first 2 letters of!!!!! It was a pain in the butt!!!

Even though people don't post that doesn't mean that they don't want to come on and read the posts and even PM people. Just cause they don't post their thoughts for everyone to read doesn't mean that they should be deleted!

Yea, don't delete users because some of us hardly post. I come by every once and a while and then leave for a bit. But I'm always watching and learning :p

I've clicked on the main GC page where the birthdays are listed a few times. Often the names listed are (ethnic) Greek in origin and on the profiles list their location as places in Greece e.g. Athens. Not to say both ethnic Greeks and collegiate/alumni Greeks aren't necessarily both welcome here on the board, just that the 20,000 or so member base is highly likely to consist of a large amount of people who joined thinking the board was about something other than what it is actually about... I.e about a country rather than it's actual topic area of fraternities and sororities.

In an ideal world there would be a way to contact all 20,000 members and ask them if they'd like to continue being listed as a member. If they don't reply or say no then BAM! off the list!
I say this because the birthday list full of people that haven't posted annoys me too.
I'm sure there are people here who only use PM or only use their GLOs section, so contacting them would be the ideal solution.

I just noticed, of the people who joined in GreekChat's first month of operation, James and PnguinTrax are the only two remaining (or at least the only two remaining that post under their original names).
