I am currently a student at LIU Bklyn Campus in New York City. I am interested in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., however I have never seen any members on campus . Nor have I seen any postings for an interest meeting. I've seen other sororities notices around but I don't want to ask their members about another sorority. How can I find information about joining ?

Contact the Student Activities Office to determine if there is a chapter on campus. If not, inquire if it would be possible to start a chapter. From there, contact a local alumnae (I believe the NPHC calls them "graduate") chapter and ask for assistance.

THE SORORITY THAT YOU WISH TO JOIN MAY NOT HAVE A CHARTER ON THAT CAMPUS AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT ASKING OTHER SORORITY GIRLS, WE LOVE TO HAVE PEOPLE JOIN THE GREEK SYSTEM, JUST INQUIRE IF THEY KNOW ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR CHAPTER. I KNOW THAT WE DON'T HAVE IT HERE. CALLIE ALPHA DELTA PI

Sometimes as was the case at my school, traditionally BGLO's are not recognized on their respective campuses because they don't have charters there (why, I don't know, but that is a whole different story). However, they may have members who attend your school but join through a nearby university. I would suggest that you go to Student Life or the Office of Black Student Services (or whatever it may be called on your campus) I am sure that someone there will be able to help you! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
