Did you watch "The Hamptons" on ABC tonight?

I didn't but I saw something about it on The View this week...I'm still a little confused....
It's a documentary that'll be running for a few weeks or was tonight just it?
Can't wait to hear what people though.

I saw a few minutes of that show. Watching The Hamptons really isn't as good as being in the Hamptons.;)

Why in the world would anyone want to watch this show?

I don't get it.

I saw parts of the show today (but I put it back on the NBA Finals)...and I really don't understand what is the point to it, what is it about? Anyone know? :confused:

I caught the first hour...and I wasn't impressed. It's just another free for all meat-market...it's just high class.

I've been to the Hamptons once, and I have to agree with Cream, it doesn't look like it's as fun as it is if you're really there.

I'm in the minority on this one, but I enjoyed the first part and will watch the second part tonight.

Barbara Kopple, the documentary's director, did a nice job interweaving the summer folks with the regular folks.

Jacqueline (the lawyer who wants to get married) cracked me up. I could have done w/o Paris and Nicky Hilton -- living proof that money doesn't equal taste. :rolleyes: Also funny were Jason Binn, the magazine publisher and Josh Sagman, that oxygen-bar fellow.

Plus it's nice to see Russell Simmons enjoying the fruits of his labor -- where was Kimora?

I turned it off after the first hour...and I was flipping channels through the first hour because I was so bored!!!

The Issac Mizrahi wanna-be and the "I will not not be married by 30" Girl had me sooooooooooooo irritated! I expected it to be more on the lifestyle of the locals vs. the summer crowd, but they jumped around way too much. The only person I was slightly interested in watching was the blonde girl that didn't fit in. What was the deal with the guy taking the dog to the vet...? It had no relevance.

No part two for me.

I guess I'm one of the few that enjoyed the show. It was slightly boring at first, but then it started to pick up in the second hour. It was cool how Barbara Kopple put all the stories together. I liked the Hilton girls, Jason (Hampton's publisher guy), and Angela (the girl that doesn't quite fit in). Christie Brinkley's b-day for her daughter was cute. The whole scandal with Lizzie was interesting too--funny how they labeled her as white trash. I could have done without Josh (oxygen bar guy) and Jacqueline is kinda annoying ( I read somewhere that she doesn't catch a husband). But, overall it's pretty good. I'll be watching part 2 tonight.

Brother Jono lives there and I e-m him and told him that I watched the last 35 min of the show and said hell, they are all just nut cases! Mixed of course!!

Da, he aint in it so hope there is something else on Mon Nite! Or when ever!:confused:

The Hamptons is actually very rich in history. Shipping, fishing, farming, and wineries have been a major part of the area's economy for over three hundred years. Unfortunately with the inevitable real estate development and construction, there are fewer farms and vineyards because it is more lucrative to sell the land to developers. The rumor a few years ago was that a certain movie director purchased an eight acre lot of land for between ten and twenty million dollars. This has caused many farmers to sell their land and move. It has also caused the local ecomony to depend more and more on the business of the summer visitors. Essentially the weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day drive the economy. The reality is that there is wealth in the Hamptons, and there are people who depend on that wealth to support their families and themselves. Now that would have been interesting to explore.

I actually really enjoyed the whole thing, and I just got done watching the second part. I thought that the director did a wonderful job giving the rest of us a glimpse of the place where the American Dreams has lain for the last century. Not only did it show the summer folks, but the locals as well, in a very nice mix.
I have actually always wanted to make a summer trip out to the Hamptons, and I will definetly be making it an eventual destination.

Did anyone see it Sunday night? If so, Do you remember That that said he was in love with Alec Baldwin. He also said that Alec asked him to have dinner with him. So, is Alec gay? :confused:

I don't think that Kristin Davis or Kim Basinger (AB's ex) think that he's gay.

The second half of the documentary was also enjoyable, and I did appreciate the mix of "ordinary people" and some rich folx. Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley's daughter, Alexa, has gotten prettier as she gets older.

Also, I like Jacqueline (the attorney), but I had to wonder -- does she have any game? If you've got game, you shouldn't have to be on TV looking for a companion. :p
