Las Vegas
I'm going to Vegas in 10 days and was wondering if anyone could give me any travel tips. I've never been and am SO excited to go. It's a 21st b-day present from my cousin and her husband and I really want to have a good time. Thanks!

I'm going to Vegas w/ my parents in two weeks. We're staying at Caesars! I'm so excited. Where are you staying?
When going to Vegas I always make sure to bring a lot of clothes. Day outfit, dinner outfit, party outfit. Three outfits a day adds up. Plus swimsuits if you plan on spending time by the pool. Just remember to pace yourself. Especially at night. During my first trip to Vegas, with my friends, each day was: sleep till 2pm, eat, nap, get ready to go out, party till dawn. That can be exhausting! Plus you don't really get to "see" Vegas that way. |
I love Vegas..it's one of my favorite places in the world :)
As far as clubs are concerned, i definately recommend 54(located in the MGM grand)..theres no cover for girls, good music, and the drinks are reasonably priced..its my favorite club.. I personally would bypass rumjungle(in mandalay bay)..i've been there twice, its tiny so it gets really packed to where you can't move, the cover is $20 and the drinks are RIDICULOUSLY overpriceed(i paid $12 for a redbull & vodka) Definately try and get to the Hardrock hotel & casino..its my favorite hotel/casino..just a fun atmosphere..best place to gamble.. |
I definitely love Vegas. I love 54 too...who can refuse a free cover for girls?
Still, I bypass all the casinos...for some reason I love getting lost at the Forum Shops. |
If you are into thrill rides you should definately check out The Big Shot. It is a ride on top of the Stratesphere. It is one of the best thrill rides I have ever been on, it causes such a rush!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! |
I'm going to Vegas with my sisters for our senior year Spring Break also (2005)! My pledge sisters who are a year older promised to come back for one last spring break before we all enter the real world. We were inspired by "Ocean's 11," b/c we, too, are criminals who have yet to be caught. :D
Note to self: Do not spend last ten dollars on lottery tickets and vodka. ~bggtgwyw ps: I'm a tad concerned b/c I seem to be the only one saving up money for this so far. It all goes in my Margaritaville glass (from Spring Break 2002). How much is enough? I figure everyone's parents could make this like a 21st Birthday present...even though I'll be 22 by then? We'll see... |
Honestly? I've been to vegas twice, but my best friend took us both times..so i paid for very little..we stayed at the venetian both times, ate at really good restraunts(spago, delmonico, etc..) he gave me money to gamble..bought me drinks, etc..so when i went, i only brought maybe $300..however..i've tried planning several trips on a budget that is more in my budget..if i were you what i suggest is setting aside two different areas of savings.. one just for entertainment(drinks, gambling, shopping..vegas has great shopping..prada, tiffany, 2 sephoras within a mile of each other..) and the other just for traveling/food/hotel...
you can usually find really good deals on places like expedia if you aren't too terribly picky about where you stay..you can usually get a room at the stratosphere for about $29 a night..but you have to take into account its at the totally opposite end of the strip from where you'll probably be spending most of your time..so what you would save on the hotel room you would end up spending on taxis..but you can usually find a room at the excalibur for about $45 per night, new york new york for about $65 per night, etc..so thats defintaely something you want to take into account when you are saving..also..remember that you pretty much only sleep and get ready in your hotel room, so where you stay isn't THAT important..also, hotel rooms in vegas are ALOT cheaper during the week than on the weekend.. hope this helps :) |
Thanks for all the hints and good ideas :) I knew Greek Chatters were the ones to ask! We're staying at the Rio and from what I've seen of it on the internet I'm excited. I love big cities and am sure I won't be disappointed. This is a late 21st b-day present so my cousin and her husband tell me I'll be drunk the whole time if their plan works, we'll see. She definetly wants to go dancing so I'll remember the free cover at 54 thanks!!

Two Words: IT'S HOT!!!!
Pack accordingly... Unless you are inside all of the time, be sure to bring sunscreen and lotion... (But you probably already realize all of this :) ) |
