(stolen thread) where did you pref?
 

OK, if you went through formal rush, what houses did you pref? If you went through informal/alum rush, what other sororities did you seriously consider? Was there any common thread that made these chapters alike?

I went to AXD of course, A Chi O and the local's pref parties. I was really only interested in the first two but I figured I should go to as many parties as possible. (There were two other chapters on campus - I had dropped one and the other had dropped me.)

AXD and the local were both small(er) than the other groups and perhaps more individual, whereas A Chi O at the time was the top dog on campus (without ever being snotty or bitchy) plus they had the best house. One of the other chapters scared me with their big hair, and the chapter that dropped was was very sweet but I never really felt at home there anyway.

I was invited to pref at Alpha Xi Delta and Kappa Kappa Gamma, but I declined Kappa because their dues were really high and my mom told me she wouldn't pay them that high. (Of course, she then proceeded never to pay for any of it! ... but that's all best forgotten now.) In retrospect it was all fine, because at the time I was interested in Alpha Xi Delta for all the "right" reasons (felt comfortable with everyone, shared interests, lots of laughter) and in Kappa for only slightly less right ones (great reputation, idolized my Kappa orientation counselor, and I JUST LOVED the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song, which I can still sing!), but I'll tell you now that everytime there was any Alpha Xi Drama when I was a collegian -- and you KNOW there was! -- I was mentally thinking "Sheesh ... I might have been a Kappa and be avoiding all this!" Because surely only MY chapter was experiencing any drama. Now, of course, I wouldn't change it for the world, and Kappa still holds a special place in my panhellenic heart! :D

I preffed AOTT and AxiD. I liked AOTT, but I never felt really comfortable there. There was just something that didn't click.
At AXiD, ever since the first night, I felt right at home. I liked the girls a lot who had rushed me, and at pref., insted of it being all mushy-gushy like it was at AOTT, there was a funny moment at AXiD's, when the girl behind me (who later became my big sister) was like "i'm sorry i have to sing behind you bc I have a terrible voice, and i hope it doesn't make you run away screaming." And we giggled a little bit. I just knew that that was the place for me. plus, i can't sing either!

I went through informal rush, and I was most interested in Pi Beta Phi and Chi Omega--the Pi Phi's I'm not quite sure why now, and the Chi O's were extremely nice and friendly when I went through their house. Frankly AXiD was last on my list (the other house was Kappa and I never considered going their--I didn't fit their image and I knew that) because ours is the smallest chapter and least popular, doesn't have an "image" and tends to attract people who would never get into any sorority. I took my bid on a whim and have since realized how good a decision that was, because I know I wouldn't have been nearly as comfortable and accepted in the other houses.

My first choices were AZD and Sigma Kappa. I actually really considered going Sigma Kappa but at the last minute realized they were not for me (for reasons I will not divulge publicly). I could not have made a better choice and can't imagine being anywhere else. As in pref invites, I was invited to AZD, SK, and Chi-O.

I dropped out of formal rush after day one. We had 13 chapters on campus, and that day just wore me out. AXiD was #13. By the time I got there, I had already made up my mind that sorority life was not for me. I didn't give it much of a chance, but I did have a nice time chatting with my soon-to-be sister :)
A week (month? I don't remember) later, they called me to invite me to COB. I went back and had a great time! I was so surprised (and so happy) to see that my Rho Chi from formal rush was an AXiD, as were a few of my friends from the dorms (this I knew). But even the girls I hadn't met before were awesome. We watched Friends and had pizza, and I knew that was the place for me.
I didn't attend COB events at any other chapters.

We could only pref two (of six sororities), so I preffed AXiD and ZTA.

I missed my pref. day. But AXiD was always my first choice.

I went to alpha xi, alpha chi, and zta, and I just love the choice that I made! I can not imagine being a part of a different sorority!!
