hey techadpi, sorry i'm a slacker and didn't reply sooner

my diamond got me some cool stuff... for diamond days i got a different size basket each day from small to large, that matched one another and there were different things in them everyday. i got a notepad, a big mug with my name on it, journal, a little round glass floating candle thing, a pretty tealite lamp, and this hanging tealite holder thingy... they were cool cause they weren't your traditional items but were all either in the sorority colors or violet oriented, or had been decorated with blue n white ribbons, etc. i got a "family tree" with our diamond chain painted on this decorative little fence thing (check out walmart's craft section) (the fam. tree comes from the oldest member of your diamond chain, who happened to be my diamond cause my grand diamond wasn't there that semester), a pin box that ali painted with my name and initiation date, etc, that was probly the best thing she gave me cause it was tin and has a butterfly on it that was connected with this wire (hard to explain but really cool) and i knew that she had really put thought into it cause i LOVE butterflies and it was something very unusual that you don't just find everyday. she also made me a scrapbook, and some different cups and glasses, picture frames, candles, and stuff to decorate with like paint, etc for myself. i also got a set of "family" letters that matched hers...

i know stuff is slipping my mind, sorry i'm just trying for the general gist ;)

i got my diamond:
a stuffed lion, a potted violet, a silk violet in a pot, picture frames, family letters, a couple candles, glasses/cups, a mug, a vase, a notepad, a pressed violet bookmark, a scrapbook, a pin box, some bath stuff i think, a basket, decals, and i know there was more but i forget since i dont' have it here :) sorry!

wooden letters are great too, i got these from ali during senior giveaway, and i know one of the other sororities give them as gifts... i think i'm gonna institute that for us since i'm nmc and the mevp and i choose pride gifts :D

good luck, have fun and be crafty this summer, then when you get your diamond you can leave a couple things to personalize to her taste, what ali made me with butterflies, and the pin box were so awesome! : D

Well what I have given to diamond sisters in the past, and what I am giving to mine in the fall (she didnt go through initiation in the spring so she is going through with the fall class long story) anyways the list of things:

Pin box with name and time of initiation and adpi and what not
stuffed alphie
pillow with letters on it
photoalbum/scrapbook with letters on it
candle with holder that I added stars to and painted
cork board that I painted
glass container i painted
picture frame with poem in it
door hanger that has ADPi on on side and a night night theme on the other side

Other presents that I am making for my family for when we get back to school are:

blue and white friendship braclets
lanyered key chain
Picture frame that I decorated with a picture of all of us together
oh and i am making them all cookies

If we cant tell here I am a very crafter person...so I make most everything I give to people in one way or another.

The big thing to remember is to go to walmart or a craft store and look for inexpensive things to decorate.

ADPi Diamond sister gifts.

The best thing I gave to my Diamond Sister was a scrapbook of her first months with ADPi.
I started the scrapbook with Rush pictures, all the "behind the scenes" pictures of ADPi each night. Then it went onto Bid Day, the first Pride event, etc... I included everything, studying in the library, eating lunch with the chapter...all of that.
I gave her the whole thing at the end of Diamond Days. She loved it.
My good friend in my chapter even went a step further and made videotape for her Diamond sis. She taped actives before rush parties talking about how nervous they were and then taped Bid Day etc... The entire semester she had her camera everywhere we went...it was an amazing gift but I don't think I could do that. Carrying a little 35mm camera was much easier thing for me to do.

One year we tried to do theme gifts, for the 4 points of the badge; sisterhood, philanthropy, social and scholarship. That was actually really fun but kind of hard to think of original things for each point.
For sisterhood I gave framed photos of Diamond and I together.
For the philanthropy gift I made a donation to Ronald McDonald House in her name and I gave her those McDonald’s cookies.
To represent social, I gave her a gift certificate for a manicure (for a night out on the town--the true reason was because she just loved getting manicures).
The scholarship gift was The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (she was an English major with a concentration in Shakespeare).
They weren't all ADPi themed with violets and such, but they were fun gifts to give and get.

The other cute idea I heard from my friend at another chapter is they do ADPi "time capsules" for each other. They burn CDs with popular songs, and create theses cute "top ten lists" of movies, TV shows etc... So when they graduate they can look back and listen to what was popular while they were in college. They put everything they gather into those wooden boxes you can buy at craft stores which they paint blue and white.
It's also a great thing to do for seniors who will be graduating!

Good luck coming up with ideas, it's such a fun part of the Diamond sister relationship!
