Thongs for 10 year olds?
I was watching Talk Back Live on CNN today and I learned that Ambrocrombie & Fitch are selling thongs aimed at 10-16 year old girls. What's worse, the underwear has messages such as "eye candy" and "wink, wink" written on them? WTF?? 10 year olds, come on. My oldest niece is ten, and I know my sister and brother-in-law would not purchase that for her.
Yet, we sometimes wonder how young children get involved in scandals (i.e. R. Kelly) |
Yes Indeed
It's funny that you should bring this up because my brat is 9 and we have the hardest time shopping for her.We were shopping yesterday and in the Limited Too there are all sorts of "booty" shorts with different messages on them. I don't want to bring any attention to my baby's butt!!! There is no way in HELL that I'm gonna let my CHILD sport THONGS!!!

I ran into an old neighbor of mine on my way back from lunch and he mentioned something about thongs being made for little girls - what the hell is this purpose????? 10 year olds should not be worrying about pantylines showing through their outfits. My daughter is only 5 and I shudder when I think of what kind of clothing will come out by the time she reaches 10.

Thongs for 10 year olds?
I don't think so! |
It's so funny that AKA2'D would post this topic. I was just in the lingerie department of Marshall Fields yesterday. My seven year old daughter, picked up a thong and innocently asked "What is this?" I couldn't help laughing, but I told her. I didn't go into detail, I just said, "it's a thong." She responded, "A thong? Oh okay." And that was that. She didn't make any other comments about thongs for the rest of our time in the underwear section. However, she did ask me repeatedly if she could have a bra.
While I realize that my daughter is not, "every women", I can't help thinking that little girls will not be interested in thongs, unless their parents (read: guardians) or older associates (read: relatives) introduce the idea to them. |
Any parent who goes out and buys thong underwear for the little girl needs to be taken out back and beaten with a switch.
These same parents will end up on Sally Jesse Raphael, Ricky Lake & Maury begging to put their little girls in "boot camp" for dressing "too sexy", acting "sexy", and promiscuous behavior. I guess now that they are making "booty crack" jeans for litle girls, they want to market thongs to them as well so that they can show their thong at the top of their jeans just like the Britney Spears, etc. My baby will be wearing power-puff girls and hello kitty panties until she's 18 and can buy her own (when she can drive herself to the store to buy them with the money she makes at her own job). |

This link will show a pic of the ad underwear for those interested. And the actual target (market) group is age 10 - 16 year old. However, the smaller size for the age 10 can fit girls younger if they are well developed.

It's not appropriate for a 7-year-old, but it is appropriate for a 10-year-old. Once you get about 10, you start to care about your underwear, and you start to care about your clothes
http://www.plauder-smilies.de/rough/twak.gif This man deserves a dummy slap for that one. My sister is 14 and she has ABSOLUTELY no reason to need to hide panty lines. I'm starting to wonder who works at A&F http://www.plauder-smilies.de/madgo.gif |
I have nothing against thongs. I think they are a functional piece of the lingere world like a slip BUT there is nothing a 10, 11, 12,13,15 year old needs to be wearing to warrant a thong. The only thing could envision is when you hit 16 and up and may be wearing a more form fitting formal, that is a limited rare occasion at best.
These people ar all crazy at that company. |
Sick... just sick... don't let Rra get a hold on this...
okay.. okay... that was low... I am sorry. Too many "alleged" child molesters out there, and I couldn't resist the dig at R Kelly. |
A&F just keeps sinking to new depths...
TLAW you are absolutely right!
We all know that there are PLENTY of criminal men out there who prey on these little girls who grow up too soon. I guarantee you they will be looking for the ten year old in the thong, because that is the child who has no adult supervision or parental guidance. That is the child that is the most vulnerable to them. |
I think we are making progress... soon we can have see through blouses, stilleto heels, and even birth control for our children. Forgive me for being dramatically paranoid, but this is getting out of hand. Forget switches; take the parents out and horsewhip 'em!

I'm sorry but when I was ten, the last thing a wanted a little piece of string stuck up in my little booty. I mean, I didn't start wearing thongs, or even knowing what they were, until I was in college. To tell you the truth, sometimes I don't even like wearing them now and I'm a GAW. At my age, panty lines are unacceptable. But at ten, if you are looking close enough at a ten year old's butt to notice panty lines then you need to be taken out back and beaten with a hose. My neice is almost thirteen and she knows that she doesn't need to be within ten feet of a thong.
