Haven't heard this word used in awhile...
I was paying my tuition yesterday after class and a mom and daughter were standing near me in the financial aid line. Well the daughter saw me wearing letters and looked over and said hey mom im never seen a frat guy before, i wanna join a sorority in the fall. Her mom who is ugly as sin(shes in the navy) says WHAT?!?! You do not wanna join one of those, they don't call them a WHOREority for nothing. Id be embarresed if you became one of those whores. I was like WOAH!!!!! that was harsh. I didn't know what to say to her and i was in a hurry. Ive only heard that word used as a joke but never like that. Does that happen to anyone else?

Never had anyone say that in my presence before... But you can bet the farm that I'd have had a response for anyone who did. I can't believe that a mother would say that to her daughter. How uncouth and nasty!

I think I would have said "Oh, the only people who call them that are the ones who are bitter that they weren't invited to join."
|
Oh man....
I probably would've turned towards that woman and said, "Obviously no one wanted to give you a bid." People can be so closed minded.... |
I wouldda looked at her and said "a pinch of sugar and some milk will cure the bitter taste you obviously has in your mouth."
Then I wouldda loked at her daughter and said, "Do it. Its The best time you'll have in college. Period. BTW, if you are in Financial Aid line, then your momma aint paying for school, so you do what YOU want." Then I wouldda slipped the daughter my digits to completely dumbfound the mom. |

I've never heard whorerority...I've heard sorostitutes though. I guess they're all funny until they come out of someone's mouth who's actually being serious about the term.
|
I have never heard those terms.
I for one would not have resorted to insult. I would have walked over, extended my hand for a handshake and said "Hi. My name is Marti. I just wanted to welcome you and your daughter to the University of ________. I heard what you said about sororities, and as a sorority woman, I can assure you that neither I, nor my sisters fit that stereotype. Sorority life has a lot to offer and I think that it would be a great decision for your daughter to go through rush to see for herself what it's like." And then I would hand her an application for rush, since I always carried them with me to pass out to people...yes, I am kind of a rush freak... The best way to correct the stereotype is to show them how nice you are. Then they feel like a total ass...no insults needed. |
WOW!!!
I cannot believe someone would say that especially in front of someone who is in a sorority! UGH!!!!:o That was uncalled for. I would have shared a few words with her...if you know what I mean. That is just rude!!

sowhore-ity
One of my friends from high school always asks me how my "sowhore-ity" sisters are doing, but it's all in good fun b/c he doesn't mean it. But damn, that mother sure has a thing or two to learn about common courtesy....

I've never heard that one, but to be sure, I would have found something nice and dignified to say.
And slipping the digits would have turned that woman into a tailspin. |
