Diva's LIVE: 2002-5.23.02 (Whitney will be there)
Divas:
Mary J. Blige Celine (Boo) Cher (huh?) Dixie Chicks (Las Vegas, not Opryland) Shakira (??) Whitney Houston (minus drugs  ) is scheduled to perform with Mary. 9/8 PM I"ll only watch to see Mary and the duet. BUT, if you could produce the show, what DIVAS would you include? My list would include some of our underrated R&B/Soul singers. For instance: Patti Austin Chaka Angela Bofill Roberta Flack |
Yolanda Adams
Aretha Franklin Celine Deon |
Whitney must have really changed, because it is not like her to be in a show and not the headliner. We'll see. They may not be announcing that she will be there in case if she doesn't show up. Is it live? When I saw the announcement they did not even say featuring Whintey Houston. They just said special proformance by Whitney. Maybe She told them to word it like that, but I don't like it. I hope she show out on 'em. You know she will do it.
:p |
It's live. Check vh1.com for more details.
Isn't Whit working on some new material? Also, Mary appeared on the Live show when Whitney was a "diva". They performed "Ain't No Way". That was a GREAT duet. Maybe she is returning the favor. |
Divas
Peace & Blessings SistaFriends!!!
I would choose the following (new and old Diva style): Yolanda Adams Jill Scott Patti Labelle Roberta Flack Lauryn Hill Chaka Aretha Franklin Cher Angie Stone Badu |

If I were doing a Divas Live, here would be my artists: 1. Shirley Caesar-I grew up on this Queen of Gospel--and she can sing anything and touches my heart every time 2. Yolanda Adams- I want to hear her sing all of my favorites--too many to name 3. Patti LaBelle -She must sing "You are my friend" and "When You've been blessed" 4. Aretha Franklin -She can sang anything she wants 5. Diana Ross -She is the epitome` of DIVA!--she would sing 2 songs--you know that's her standard--gotta be at least two--she would definitely "send us home" with "Reach out and Touch" 6. Gladys Knight -I just wanna hear "Midnight Train" 7. Mary J. Blige-She sings what Frankie Beverly calls "joy and pain--SUNSHINE and rain" 8. Angie Stone-love her positive lyrics |
I hate the fact that these days, anyone who sells a lot of records is considered a "diva". Puh-LEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!
I lost it when I heard somebody talk about Jennifer Lopez doing some kind of diva special. Don't get me wrong, I like some of her songs, but can she really sing? NO!!!!! Then again, I don't think half the people with record deals these days can sing anyway. I don't think folks like Shakira or Jennifer Lopez should even be mentioned in the same category as Patti, Celine or Whitney. |
ok
I saw Divas Las Vegas and it was better than the Diana Ross tribute(which looked disorganized)
Maybe I am alone, but I think Mary J Blige need to sit her azz down with all that jumping and hollering. And maybe she does have the holy ghost, but I can't even understand the woman when she is singing. I didn't like when she hopping around like a "Patti Labelle" wannabe on the grammys and I didn't like it now. You can sing a song with feeling without doing all that mess. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shakira! Now that is a Diva, she's huge in the Latino community and has been for a while. To me, she blows J.Lo out the water in looks. And I love how she sticks to her roots. the belly dancing and the accent and all that. How can you end with an Elvis tribute and not sing "Viva Las Vegas"? What was up with that? Oh, and whitney looked the best that I've seen her in a long time. QTE |
I just saw the show yesterday. Mary J. and Whitney looked and though they were confused while they were out on stage. They both were acting very odd too. Whitney didn't even seem like she knew where to go. Their proformance just didn't seem pulled together. I was disappointed. I really wanted to see Whitney but she didn't do well at all.
