Have you ever shipped your car to a different city?

I am looking into shipping my car to Rhode Island from Texas because I really do not want to drive alone for that long of a drive. If I did, I would drive my car and my fiance/then husband would drive the Uhaul. That is not my idea of a fun way to spend the week after the honeymoon! I'd rather at least ride with him :(

So I need to know how much it will cost. The Uhaul will already run us 1000.

I considered it, back in 2000. From OH to NC, a distance of 600 some miles, they were going to charge us $700, and we found out that was cheap!
We drove.

If it is peice of junk, ship it!!

One summer, I worked for a company, and found a VW that wzs stuffed in teh front of the trailer!

Drive it! No One Drives My Car! But Me!!!!!! Of Course it is a 5 speed!
I have a Freind who delivers cars for customers and he is extremly careful with them!

PM me and can give you more information!

It is never cheap to have someone to do the driving!

But if have a nice car, you want it in one peice! when ist gets there!

If you are going to be taking a U-Haul, you go also rent the car trailer that atteches to the back of the U-Haul. That way you can move everthing together in one trip.

I have a Honda Civic. It is not a piece of junk, so I want to keep it in good shape. I will probably end up driving it if it really is going to cost 700 bucks or something. 500 is probably the top amount I would pay. We took my fiance's car to RI last summer on the back of the Uhaul with one of those car trailer things, but it made the whole Uhaul about as long as a semi, so he will NOT do that again. It was a total pain in the ass!

I was thinking the same thing, just rent the car trailer that attaches to the back of the Uhaul. That should solve your problem.

I don't think its that much more expensive to rent overall.

Violet, see my above post. Fiance already did that once and will not do it again.

thanks for the advice though.

One suggestion is that if you drive two vehicles then take walkie-talkies so that you can easily communicate. My husband and I have done that before and it helps, especially if you're making a several day trip.

AZ, it is in our plan to have walkie talkies if we end up both driving. Great minds think alike!

get high end walkie talkies. The cheap $20 ones form Wal Mart wont work well due to the interference produced by some peoples engines. I learned the had way one time.
