Your Greek Wedding

Would you incorporate elements of the sisterhood into your wedding? If so, what would you use?

My something old/something blue was a blue and white Zeta handkerchief that I got when I crossed. After the ceremony, the sorors present and I made a circle and sang the first stanza of the hymn (though I later found out this was inappropriate).

You are not the only one that did this, I have been to a few weddings that sung the first stanza of the hymn. I heard that at Boule' this year that we will be given a song to sing at weddings that will be more appropriate. If anyone knows, is this true? I'm asking because one of the sorors in my chapter is getting married in August and she has already asked us to sing the hymn at her reception. I really hope that we do get a wedding song.

Wouldn't a wedding song be blutiful?

I've been thinking about my wedding day (I'm not engaged...yet ;) ) but I would like for Sorors to sing a Zeta song at our reception. Just like I would like to hear my Husbands Fraternal Brothers sing something too! :D

I'm thinking of having Doves as either an Ice Sculpture, souvenirs or in a cage to be released at the end of the ceremony.

;)

A word to the wise...

If you're going to to doves, make sure your reception is outside. Many places have restrictions on having live animals inside (against health regulations) and, well, doves poop. :D

I think other than having some of my Sorors in the wedding and singing the song and having a song sung to me(if he's greek), I won't incorporate any other elements of greekdom into my wedding.

ditto!

I would not go through any great lengths to incorporate my Greek affiliation into my wedding? Its a very personal part of my life. There will be no stepping in gowns! Maybe a Finer Stroll if I catch the feeling ;)

I have to agree. Other than having my closest sorors in my wedding party, there will be no remnants of a "Greek" wedding.

City Hall LOL

Went to city Hall the first time, and Vegas the second time.
No greek wedding for me. No big wedding. That money went towards MY DREAM HOUSE!

lilZetagirl 05-15-2002 03:32 AM

i am curious...

what else have you all seen and/or experienced outside of a few close sorors/frat in the wedding party and a song sung?

i ask because i have only been to 1 wedding where the bride/groom was a member of a greek lettered organization and there were no remnants of the org outside of the wedding party...

just curious!

thanks

I was @ a "greek" wedding. How about there was:

*Stepping [a miniature stepshow]

*A ridiculous amount of strolling

*No one in the wedding party was GDI or in another org

*Mad "calls"

*Every picture had "greek signs" thrown up

*At the reception, if you were in a bglo, you had to wear para.

That is what I call overkill. The only elements I would incorporate is maybe close sorors/frat in the wedding party and having the song sung.

I hope you get your wedding song. As a member of DST, it is wonderful and emotional feeling to sing our special song to a Soror on her wedding day. I hope you get your wish so that you can have that experience!!!!!:)

I feel ya special1920, City hall was all I needed, tried the planning thingy.....nope, not me, maybe in the future. We did have a nice reception that we went all out for. No live doves or anything like that, but the first stanza of our song..and plenty of sorors in attendance.
