Is skin tone an issue among sororities?(outer beauty)

Is skin tone an issue among sororities? I have been surfing greekpages.com and have noticed among most sororities the ladies seem to have the same skin tone. While checking out most of the AKA sites it seems that most of the girls are red or should I say caramel toned, while the Zeta sites seem to consist of brown toned girls. Has anyone else noticed this? Have you noticed rejection of someone because there tone is darker then most? Is outer beauty a big issue?

ZetaArc7,

You surfed sites that are not typical of most sororities. Truth be told, most of the sororites are pretty diverse. Outer beauty is should never be a big issue!!

Thanx for the correction, ZetaAce. I feel that outer beauty should not be an issue also thanx for detailing the diversity of each sorority."One should never look down on there sister unless they are picking them up."

Hello ladies,
I attend a school in North Florida and I must say that the sororities I've come into contact with are pretty diverse. Yes, there are always those little stereotypes for each organization but I've noticed that is not entirely true. On my campus, yes, the majority of women in your organization, Zeta Phi Beta, are a darker shade of brown. But I also know for a fact that on the campus of UCF the majority of Zeta's are of lighter complexions. I agree that it varies according to the campus. But, overall, I think that within each chapter there is a pretty good mix.

Such stereotypes rarely, if ever, pan out across the board. Point in case, ALL of the Founders of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated were "light skinned".
Trust me on this...I know plenty "unsavory" members of other sororities...so all of the talk about being "pretty"...well,I am sure folks would rather hear about the service in the community rather than the false stereotype. Be careful not to be colorstruck, that too is unattractive.

The truth is Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has a rainbow of skin colors and ethnicities. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a predominately African American sorority, but from an ethnicity point of view her membership is diverse.

The same is true for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
