Anyone else checking out Spiderman on opening weekend? I saw it yesterday and the theater was jam packed...plus they're playing the movie like every 45 minutes where I live so they must be racking in some serious cash.

I thought it was okay, yet for all the hype, I guess I was expecting more. I know almost nothing about comics, but it was still very predictable...especially the ending (total set up for the next installment). I also would have liked if they had explained how he went from the "pajama-looking" get-up to the spandex Spiderman outfit.

i loved it! i usually dont go to movies like that - but i thought it was very entertaining and i would probably go see it again! of course it would be a little predictable...its based from a story thats already been told in a comic book. even if you have never read the comic (which i havent) - you know what to expect because its a super hero type movie. i would rate it a must see!

I loved that movie soooo much! I agree with Leslie that they didnt' explain a lot of things...I never really followed the comic, but I know that there was a lot of unanswered stuff. But in talking to friends of mine who are huge Spiderman fans, if they tried to explain everything in the movie, it would have lasted like 8 hours. And also, that also leaves stuff for the next couple of movies...

but oh my god...I am SO in love with Tobey Maguire right now! Yeah, I'm a nerd :D

Went opening night - it was so awesome; my bf was a bit more critical than me because he is a huge spidey fan, but we both had a good time. I already want to go and see it again. :)

Wow, now I really want to see it! My bf is going take me to see it with him (he likes spiderman) and I was a little iffy about it, but now I look forward to it. ;)

I saw it twice already. It was awesome. Good story. Good effects. Fun time. And even the casting was good.

They took a couple liberties the original story line . . . but it actually made for a cleaner more upbeat movie.

Some of the actual Spiderman story lines are kind of tragic or depressing . . . we forget sometimes that comics really aren't designed for little children.

I didn't know that whole story, but I would have been kind of depressed if that I what i had seen . . .

I loved it as well!!! I really wanted to see it and it didnt let me down! I would love to go see it again! The theatre was jam packed, and like someone said earlier, they were showing the movie like every 30 minutes!

The only thing was that i went to the 8pm show and there were a lot more little ones there than I had expected, since the movie was at 8pm and its two hours long. Anyway, i thought it was a little violent and scary for them, heck there were a few scenes where i even jumped! So afterwards i was wondering if it was like rated PG or something, but its PG-13 which i think is appropriate but taking little kids to it is a bit much. I mean, yeah there were a few scenes in there where i heard the kids saying "yeah! i want to be like spiderman!" which was cute, but i wouldnt take say a 3 yr. old to it!

Yep, numbers two AND three are already in the works.

I saw it opening night.. and definately recommend it.

As James pointed out, it is more up-beat than a lot of the original story lines, but doesn't stray too far, either. (Although when "it" happens, my boyfriends whispered indignantly "that's not how it happened!")

My boyfriend begged me to see it with him earlier today even though I didn't want to. Much to my dismay, I had to admit to him that I actually enjoyed the movie. It was awesome and the special effects were great.

That's what I thought, the end was TOTALLY set up for a sequel.

I enjoyed it, it had some funny moments and Toby McGuire (sp?) played the role with vunerability.

I was totally excited to go and thought it would be good.

But I was disappointed. Eric and I went, thank goodness we had free tickets. There were so many rugrats there....but then again we went at 4:45. Like Eric said, "it's just like Superman of the 80's but with better special effects". Neither of us were impressed. Probably wouldn't see number two.

I still cant' wait for the next Lord of the Rings.

I was disappointed. Maybe it's because I waited in line for three hours, but I feel cheated because I waited so long. I thought the special effects were kind of chintzy. I didn't get the sense that Spidey was really "flying" (for lack of a better word) through the streets of Manhattan. Of course, if the intent was to make it seem like he was as light as a spider, then they were successful. :)

Which theatre did you see it at? I went out to Silvercity Riverport on opening night and onyl waited about 25 mins to get into the show - the lineup for tickets was about 5-10 minutes...

Tinseltown in Yaletown, and they were showing it on four screens. Even with that many screens, we still waited forever. Had I been smart, I would've bought the tickets online the night before. We showed up at 4:00 thinking we'd be able to buy seats for the 4:30 show - boy, were we ever wrong!
