News Bloopers

Hehe, the anchor on the Atlanta news just reported, "The City of Atlanta's financial rating took a dump. I mean a bump! Downward!"

Has anyone else heard any good ones?

Hey Carnation. Nice to see you back.

How's this for a blooper? In the late 60's I was a live TV "Booth Announcer" before they started doing all the voice overs on tape.

Our sports casts were always sponsored, so I read the commercial intros, etc.

One night I got a little tongue tied and said, "TV-4 Eleven O'Clock Sports, in color, is brought to you by the brewers of Draft Blewed Bratz, now here at popular prices."

Obviously, it was supposed to be Draft Brewed Blatz.

Well, there was the time I saw the evening news sports reporter talking about the Yankees' new pisser... "er, pitcher!" I give him credit, though - he didn't miss a beat. :)

Thanks for the greetings, y'all! I'd like to take it easy but with a house to sell and another to buy, 2 seniors graduating, etc., I don't know...

Anyway, I don't see how the announcers keep going without missing a beat. My kids reminded me of a couple of months ago when one of the CNN anchors said, "Today is the 50th anniversary of the Styrofoam cooter. I mean cooler!" Both the anchor and our sophomore lost it. CNN went to a commercial but our daughter laughed and choked for ten minutes.

not a true blooper, but...

Channel 11 here had a reporter named Kris Long...basically Ted Baxter come to life.

He had many memorable moments but the one that sticks out in my mind is when they were doing a human-interest story to end the newscast. The story was on a rhino from the Pgh Zoo being shipped to another zoo so they could breed them. Kris ended the story by turning to the camera, leering, and saying "Lucky rhinos!" :p

You always got the impression that he was trying to grab the female co-anchor's knees under the news desk. I think he's out West someplace now.

I just thought of a couple of them -- done by the same woman anchor who is beautiful, but not always particularly bright.

On one show she was talking about the German currency and pronounced it "Douche mark."

Another time she was reading a story about a satellite that was crashing back to earth. The story alluded to a 2000 pound piece of space junk. In another part it talked about a one ton piece of hardware. She got thru the story with a somewhat quizical look, and then (off the air) grabbed the phone to the producer and demanded to know which was correct, and that she (the producer) was making her (the anchor) look like an idiot.

This woman is (or at least was) working for one of the syndicated tabloid shows.
