Greek Unity
What is your chapter doing to promote greek unity on your campus? What are you specifically doing?
Our chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma - Gamma Gamma, has an all sorority picnic at our house usually in the spring semester. We have been BOOKED this semester so were having it next fall. And since the change, people have been asking us about it... it seems that the sororities LOVE the picnic! I myself make an effort to get to know the other sororities- by meeting their sisters, talking to them at recrutiment and learning about their organization! What do you do? luvnstuff alison |
Well, I found that as an alum, Greek unity is much better! Maybe it's because we're not competing in rush, Greek Week, etc.
There is still some friendly competition, but it benefits everyone. For example, Panhellenic has a scholarship auction, and when it was our year to run it, we tried to outdo everyone and raise the most money ever (and we succeeded!), but the money just created more scholarships for Greek women at UW, so everyone won. Whenever I meet someone at work who is in a sorority, we're both excited, because not a lot of us are. I used to fly with a DZ and a KKG, and just down the hall from me is a DG. |
even before i came to college i knew that sigma kappa and agd had some problems to work out, but when i went through rush it sort of dwindled away. The main reason for that is because my former pres along w/ the former pres of agd made a promise to stop all the bs that was going on. If any of their sisters would talk trash, then that person would get reprimanded by their pres. They let each other know who was at fault and because of them agd and sigma kappa do not have the major issues that we once had. They were even recongnized by recieving presdient's award for their chapter!
