any ideas would be helpful

hi everyone, I am trying to get some help for one of my many, many offices this year. As VP Recruitment, i am obviously responsible for putting on preference. I would really like to change it as I feel my chapter needs a new outlook in order to get pumped for rushing. If you have any ideas on preference ceremonies or anything your chapter does that you think is particularily great it would be appreciated,

Loyally, Kim

Kim, your chapter should have a folder/binder/manual with a bunch of different preference ceremonies. When I was VPR, I "inherited" a large, unorganized box but after I sorted it all out, I found everything I was looking for. My chapter changed to a different preference ceremony last year and it went over really well. If you need some extra help, feel free to PM me. http://www.plaudersmilies.de/rotwerd.gif

Also your Recruitment Consultant (the one you send your monthly EC report to) is also a wonderful source of ideas! That's what she's there for!!! Have you also spoken to your advisor?

Your Recruitment Consultant has a wide range of resources to help you work on your preference. There is also a specialist in that area that can help. Just contact your RC and ask!

I don't know how rush is done on your campus, but when I rushed, I always liked the rush parties where you weren't talking to someone one-on-one the whole time or most of the time; instead you were in a group of 2-3 rushees and 2-3 sisters. One of the houses I went to during rush had "small" parties in the sister's rooms. There were a few rushees and a few sisters all in the room and we all sat on the floor and talked as a group, had food, drinks, etc. It was a lot more relaxed then some of the formal parties I thought.

for alpha kappa's pref parties, we rented out our alumnae center and had decorated tables that would seat three pnm's and three sisters. it was really nice. you got to SEE everybody, but you got to relax around a couple of sisters. and if the conversation fell short there were other people at the table to talk too!

Hey AGDAlways! Our prefs are really pretty. We have white sheets on the floor and white lattice(?) work with red and buff roses on it. There's a fountain at the front of the room and a bowl with rose petals on it. The back of the room has little tables with white sheets and a buff rose and a red rose on it; with two chairs on either side. As you walk in, the sisters sing today, after everyone meets their girl at the door, they escort them to a table. They'll talk for about ten minutes, then a couple songs are sung (garth brooks "to make you feel my love" and "the rose"). After that, an inspirational speech is made and then you escort the girl up to the front, grab a pearl, and say, "my wish for you is to become an alpha gamma delta" and they make a wish, then you lead them out. It was beautiful and very emotional! Hope that helps, i'm probably like a year late, but you can pass the info along!
