Teaching the Greek alphabet!

I just had to share this Greek related event. I was teaching about Ancient Greece this afternoon to my third graders, and the lesson I planned was shot because I was missing a file on my computer for it.
I thought quick and knew I had to teach later in the unit that the Greeks had their own alphabet, but since I had the time, instead of just mentioning that basic fact for them to write down, I taught them the whole alphabet with the song I learned when I went through pledging.
My whole class was walking to the busses later this afternoon singing, "Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta..." The music teacher came in, and we are going to have it broadcast on the school tv's next week with piano! My new member educator would have been so proud!:D

My 6th grade teacher who was in a house at Ohio University taught us the greek alphabet song. It was part of our unit on ancient cultures. I thought it was pretty cool that I already knew that song before becoming a pledge! :)
