leadership vs loyalty
 

I was reading AKA2D91's post on "when does one begin to 'grow' and understand an organizations purpose." Question... Once you have "grown" is loyalty or leadership more important in an organization?
I've pondered this question hundreds of times and as I read various posts and responses, I look at how BGLO's, in our communities, impact us. How we look, think, feel, and respond to what the nature of our civic duty means to people. Leadership is NOT to be taken lightly. It is a call most BGLO's have to answer. Some of our college campuses have been ruined because of their ideology of what they believe our history teaches us about being leaders. Did our foremothers and fathers ever think that 100 years later we would be able to educate ourselves to believe that we are more than deaf chattel? Yes,they did! Because they believe that our people had the capacity to stick together and lead the way. One may ask, is loyalty leadership? Yes, I say because in order to lead you must be virtuous, commited, and have the capability of saying yes I am a follower....a team player but no I won't settle and sacrifice my position for the err of man.
Personally, I think that loyalty begets leadership.....Or could be the other way around:o What do you think?

Is one every really "grown"? Or does one perpetually and continually strive for the best of oneself and mankind?

I believe it can be both....

If you are a leader, you care about the positive and efficient management of an organization, therefore you are loyal towards making it and you the best of the best.

If you are loyal, you care about the appearance and impression perceived of the organization, therfore you will lead it into the right directions to keep a positive image.

About "growing", growth is continual. You can't learn eveyrthing their is to know about anything. Any subject you study you can't know everything about. So being open to growth and change is so important.
I just have an SF's perspective so any comments about the orgs. will be reserved for members.

I agree with kitten 100%. Unless, we were never taught the perils and pitfalls of being a leader. Leaders are always challenged because novices (and others) must be taught the err of their ways.
Merit and culture perpetuates growth.
Honor and love are true.
But, ill gotten ways brings devastation and dishonor
to those who do not subdue.;)

I feel like this...
 

Anyone can have the title of being a "leader", president of this, v-president of that, chair person of this committee, etc. but if the person is not LOYAL to the organization, entity or group, but has his or her own PERSONAL agenda, then I have a problem with that.

I feel a leader is going to be loyal to the ideals set forth by the establishing body and also loyal to current mandates that are put into place to govern the organization, corporation or entity.
