Hello to all brothers! I recently attended the National Convention in Memphis the past January and heard of a great fund raiser called Pike Fight Night. I would love to have some advice on how to run this thing cause its a big ass guy to run. Anyone who can help, post a message and I will email you some questions we may have. Enjoy the rest of the school year and whatever endevours you are persuing.

good luck
before anything look up local laws to be sure you dont have to have a license. some times they make you register and get a permit. then be sure to look at your schools policy. you dont want to make them mad at your chapter, cause if your anything like us they already are. make sure you talk to a lawyer and find out what kind of paperwork you need to keep you out of trouble if someone gets hurt. we never went through with it cause it was too much trouble but good luck.

What u need to do
i would probally have a lawyer look over things i know someone in ur frats parents can do this. when presenting the idea do your research a university is going to be skeptical on this.. show how much others have raised ..get stats .. show security , staff ideas... boxing events will be 3 min rounds , head gear and 16oz gloves governed by USA Boxing Amateur rules. USA Boxing will help take care of ref one who is registered with them. boxing events are required to be sanctioned by state law for injury insurance purpose contact what ever your states association Register with the Usa Boxing each fighter will need to register with the usa boxing association , gives them amatuer boxing status..its $35.00 this will be there entry fee you need a bond and state permit from the athletic commision and a certificate of liability from the Usa boxing commision may be in best bet to have off campus ... check out ur fair grounds or armorys.. as these places already are set up with plenty of exits... and could give you lead way with the university by having it off campus.. it is a good idea to have a full time medic as well as and athletic trainer on staff during fight nights. Each fighter signs a University approved waiver also a good idea to contact a local boxing club to work with the fighters before hand maybe a few days just so there not totaly lost since they are now "amatuer boxing status" After an event videos could be sold to increase profit.. of course cam corders wouldnt be aloud to others you could have 2 nights first night preliminary rounds in all weight class both sex Friday night Showcase the championship rounds for all divisions if no females want to box you could do arm wrestling in between male fights. to get others involved make it where each frat has to sale so many tickets to support there fighters. And of Course this is a Charity Donation .have a charity in mind before presenting it... Good luck |
I know that the UCSD Pike chapter put on an annual Fight event where individuals in fraternities compete against each other, I would contact one of them on this issue...

fight
What we ended up doing at Coastal Carolina was having it during a professional toughman bout in the area. Every year a local nightclub turns into a boxing arena and has like a $10,000 first prize for whoever wins. They let us add in our own fraternity fights with PIKE vs. Sig Ep. Of course we kicked their ass and won a big screen TV. Maybe if you do find an event like this happening in your area, if you tell them it is for charity they will probably work with you on donating money somehow. By doing it this way, you will not have to worry about all of the legal stuff.
