Gamma Chi ritual poll...
 

Optimist Prime and I have been putting together some ideas for the Gamma Chi ritual. Here's the problem: I doubt that we'll be able to put together a good, solid, meaningful initiation before the end of the semester - given that it's already late April, and people are already taking finals etc, and who wants to be initiated during finals? :) But we have a good idea for a new member ceremony, which would enable all of us to quickly become "official" new members of Gamma Chi without waiting for the initiation ceremony to be finalized.

So here's the poll:

1. Should we have a new member ceremony? (yes or no)

2. If yes, when do you think initiation should be held?
- Within a couple of weeks of the NM ceremony
- Some time over the summer, with another initiation to be held for anyone without internet access over the summer
- Some time in the early fall

All of us would still be considered charter members / Alpha pledge class / whatever, no matter when we are actually initiated. We will have to have several "sessions" of the ceremonies anyway, to accommodate different school/work schedules, different time zones, etc.

I think a new member ceremony is a good idea! It would be fine to have initiation in the summer or the fall....Either way is great!!! I am already sooooo excited to be a part of Gamma Chi!!! Have an awesome night!!

i think a new member ceremony sometime soon would be good, and maybe initiation in the fall sounds better? but if summer works better for everyone, thatd be ok too! :) just my opinion!

A new member ceremony would be great. I vote for initiation to be the first week of August -before everyone gets busy with rush or early fall.

I think the new member ceremony is a great idea, also I think it's better to do it between soon and summer. Just for the fact it's easier for people to work around schedules then to wait till fall , when everyones crazy busy with rush, school, work and whatever else everyone does in the fall.

I haven't really started to get involved yet but i think a new member ceremony would be good. Also I vote for initiations to be over the summer cause I know I'll be busy later on.

Yes, I think we should have a NM ceremony!

I think initiation should be in August, before a lot of schools start heading back for recruitment.

Several Georgia schools start rush on August 12th so I'm guessing the members have to be back a few days before that--if that's a guideline for anyone from the South.

I vote for a new member ceremony very soon, and Initiation before school starts in the fall. That way, we don't have to rush writing a ritual (which should never be rushed), but we can still have a ceremony binding us together. (It would be exactly like "pinning" right after rush, and Initiation later on)

What constitued "new members?" I say people with less then 25 posts.

From an alum perspective, for those of us working, any time is as good as any other, but I agree, a new member ceremony now would be good. Can we get pledge pins that we can later use as chapter guards? And it would be best to hold off on initiation until the students amongst us are not dealing with finals, which given all the different calendars would be at least late June.

I know some about this cool new "thing" going on in greekchat. I don't post as much as one of my sisters but I like to read the threads. My Sister Adriana, is involved in all this and she is the one who informed me about it all. I think it is a great idea!! :eek: I am very excited!:D I had been looking out for more info. and I saw this thread. I personally think there should definitly be a New Member Ceremony and that Initiation should be in Aug. It simply seems as a neutral time for all. Keep everyone posted! ;)

Well, as the Convention Chair, I think the best time to Bring the new flock to our fold would be at the yearly Convention when the Majority of the Memebers would be in attendance!

I haven't visited this message board in awhile, but what is this gamma chi thing...my guess is something with greek chat and you guys want to initiate each other into it????? Where do you plan on doing this at and doesn't it seem a little wierd to be doing something like this???? I don't know, maybe its cause i don't know whats going on.....fill me in. Thanks

I vote yes for a NM ceremony, and I don't have a preference as to when initiation is...maybe end of summer b/c like others have said before,people are going to get busy with Rush/Recriutment.
