Special Family
 

Hi ladies...I was wondering if any of your chapters sing the song "Special Family." We sing this very emotional song during Preference and usually during Pre-Initiation Ceremonies. This year our Province Director asked us to sing it at IRD because we are the only chapter in the area that knows it. Anyone else here know it?

It's a great song! :) One of my favorites. My chapter didn't sing it, but I heard it at TLC one year and just fell in love with it. Do you have all of the words you can post?

Oh my goodness, THANK YOU!! You're not going to believe this, but I've had the tune for that song in my head for the last month or two for some reason (not sure why) and I couldn't remember where it was from or the words or anything!! Mystery solved!!

I love the song, but hopefully now I can get it out of my head! We used to sing it during pref night at U of Mich from what I remember.

Lynn, unfortunately I find the tune very hard to describe, but perhaps someone else who's heard it can help.

"Special Family" is on the tape that IHQ issued a few Conventions ago. I believe it was written especially for a sister and it was used for one of the Conventions. The instrumental version is on there too just in case no one's available to play the piano. The first time I heard it, I fell in love with it right away! I also have the music for the piano if anyone wants it!

Thanks for posting the words! :) I know the tune... but no one outside my shower will *ever* hear me sing. ;)

Can someone send me a copy of the tape that has the song on it? I vaguely know the song, but would love to hear it again!

We "learned" it when we went on that retreat to Lake Eufalla! Everyone would overdo the word "family" when it would come up in the song-- it would sound like "fam-UH-LEE"- tough to describe but it was fun. lol.

hi ladies! I was wondering if I could also get a copy of that tape. Our chapter (Beta Epsilon) is looking for some more songs to sing and the words that I read to last song were beautiful. Does anyone know if IHQ has any copies that they will send out? Thanks.

They sure do! I believe there is a small cost but it is minimal. Just call and ask! :)

Here's the response I got from IHQ for anyone who is interested in the song tape!

Dear Sandy,
You can purchase the tape through International Headquarters. The cost is $7.50 which includes the sheet music and tape. A check should be sent to International Headquarters along with a note explaining what you want and to whom to send it to. You can also specify if you would like the tape with actual singing on it or just the accompaniment music.
