Candlelight Ceremonies for lavalier, engagement, etc.????
 

In DZ we do candlelightings pretty frequently and now someone in my SAI chapter wants one. I have never heard of SAI chapters doing that, and my candlelighting was with DZ even though I was in both orgs at the time. Have any of you SAI's done that before?

My chapter did candlelighting, as do several other chapters that I know of. I say go for it!

Yes, we are definitely doing it. I told everyone to know the Chorale, So Near So Dear, etc....we are a newly re-established chapter (Spring 2001) so there is not exactly a lot of song-knowledge going on, you know??? :)

Lavalier??
 

What exactly is a lavalier??

A lavalier is a fraternity or sorority letter charm. At my school, we call it a drop. If you get "dropped" or "lavaliered" that means that your boyfriend gave you his fraternity's letters and it is sort of a stronger commitment than just dating, but not engagement.

We do it like this in DZ and this is how it will be in SAI when we do this later this week:

First time around the circle is for good luck, second time for a drop, third time for a fraternity pin or promise ring, fourth time for engagement, 5th time for alumnae who is expecting a baby.

We did the candlelighting and it was great! Thanks for your support! Now everyone wants one!

Welcome to GreekChat! :D Yes dual membership happens quite a bit. In fact..we have one "super-star" sister who is actually in THREE: Delta Zeta, us, and Tau Beta Sigma! I don't know how she balances all three but she does.

What chapter are you from?

Does anyone know if SAI has wedding traditions? Or have you been to an SAI wedding and seen some cute things done? My fiance is in PMA and I think he's going to get his brothers to sing the Sweetheart Song at the reception. :D But I'd like to do some SAI stuff too!
