Enlighten me, Please!
 

I am interested in joining a sorority but am unclear about some specifics of what its all about....What's a line? What's pledging and what does it consist of? What type of financial obligations are required? What's a big sister?...Just in need of any info. to help me make a decision about pursuing this.

Before I answer your questions, I need to know if you are interested in NPC sororities or NPHC sororities. The two groups conduct their rush (also known as "intake") in two very different ways. In case you are not familiar with the terms "NPC" and "NPHC"... NPHC sororities are historically black greek letter organizations while NPC sororities are historically white greek letter organizations. Both groups, however, accept women of all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on race.

Do a search of past topics on the board. I'm sure you may find an answer there. :)

My suggestion is to visit the NPHC forums of GreekChat. I know that the Delta Sigma Theta forum offers a detailed guide for interested women called "A Torch to Guide You" that will probably be useful.

Also, try to run a search using such keywords as "line" and "intake." That will bring up past threads dealing with NPHC groups and their practices.
