Proposed Sigma/Kappa Merger???

Can someone please explain the proposed merger between Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma back in the day? What year was the proposed merger made? Why and who rejected it? Did it come to a vote at a conclave or was it settled "in house", etc.?

I need some insight on this issue.

Hey frat...Don't you believe that some things should be kept confidential..This is a very public forum and you are putting all of your business out for everyone to see..If you have a question about this subject or other Sigma business then why don't you do it on a private forum. Just a suggestion. It's still all love.:)

*LOL*

Kira herbed you Knowledge...

....I'm back frat, did you miss me;)

be clear about the "public domain"

The "merger" is in print, in a published book. It is, therefore, part of the public domain. It is NOT a "secret." Ah, just in case you really believe that any fraternity and sorority have secrets, let me clue you in to something. All of the organizations' "rituals" and "secrets" are part of the "public" domain, thanks to law suits. You see, when a hazing law suit takes place, the "secrets" become part of the evidence. Hope I didn't burst your bubble. Our organizations are, however, more than a collection of secret grips, symbols, etc. PEACE

kira1920 04-25-2002 12:13 AM

No you didn't burst my bubble. Nor am I naive to the fact that many of our sorority/fraternity secrets are no longer secrets. But there is always a time and a place for everything. And my personal feeling is that this is not the place. You may not agree but how many people replied to your thread? Maybe they don't think it's the right place either. Hmmmmmmmm... This is only my opinion and you are free to diagree with me. ;)
It's still all love:)

schizo1914 04-25-2002 10:59 AM

WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!

Knowledge and Kira....you mean to tell me that our fraternal secrets (our crossing ceremony, the meanings within the shield, etc.) are all PUBLIC INFORMATION?!??!?!?

That's wack beyond belief...

:( :( Just because something is public knowledge. Does not mean it should be discussed in this forum?

It's a shame that the things that "we" work so hard for are so easy for others to obtain. But we still shouldn't discuss certain things in public. All that does is confirm to people who didn't really know... now they know.

Good Point Soror

Whatever happened to discretion?

Six_Three_Sigma 04-27-2002 11:29 AM

Whassup frat and sorors,

I'm just going to say a little bit. While there are a great many things in the public domain, they are not easily accessible to those who have no use for it nor who are interested in it. If you want it, you'll find it (no matter what the secret is). That's a fact.
Be that as it may, our organizations have many things that they teach us when we are "seeking the blue". Although some of those things have "slipped" out we should not be talking about them nor mentioning them in public.

If people have questions about certain things as they relate to what you were taught or may have heard about YOUR organization, the people you should be asking are those who gave you the information!!!! If they "hit" you with the info, they should be able to provide the insight you seek. Should you not be able to get satisfaction that way, call the national headquarters and ask them or write them. (These are the ways member should go about obtaining information.)

No offense Bro. But WHO IN THE HELL PLEDGED YOU!!!! That information is in your SIGMA LIGHT and if you didnt get one shame on your chapter for not having a copy. As far as posting secrets of the frat there is a big difference between people having to do research in the public record to find out aboout our rituals and merely looking on this thread to find out. Our rituals are expressions of our BROTHERHOOD and should not be taken lightly. Next you will be askin what G.O.M.A.B. means

Blueknowledge 04-30-2002 09:08 AM

First, my brother, calm down - no secrets have been revealed in this thread. My thread was meant to get a contextualization of the events. The Light, as you know, does not give a great account of that time period. I have not, however, revealed our crossing ceremony or our "secret grip" and other hyper-important info.

Nevertheless, you missed the point, as I did not specify the blue and white, but instead, implicated all BGLOS with respects to their "cherished" documents being a part of the "public" record. This is the unfortunate downside of our obstinant belief in "hazing," which we'd rather hold onto and go extinct, than finding another way to legitimate new members.

Of course, the best way to make this thread "go away" is to stop responding to it and then it will fade down the screen and off the page.

BTW - My "history" is a little fuzzy, but my ADP taught me that GOMAB meant Grapes, Oranges, Mangoes, Apples and Berries.

LoL @ BlueKnowledge

legacypbs 05-01-2002 11:37 AM

Damn Blue Knowledge is everything related to hazing. I just want to know what the big deal is about the merger. It's not something that even included in the light (let me go check on that) so why do we make such a big deal of it. It should be general knowledge. Here's a hint instead of Phi Beta Sigma there is Phi Nu Pi.

schizo1914 05-01-2002 12:11 PM

EXACTLY!!

what's the big deal about the proposed merger?!?!?

other frats don't even cross my mind...
