Brain teaser!

OK, kids, can you figure out what each of the following lists are? Hint: Order isn't relevant. You'll see I put them in Greek alpha order. And they aren't all parallel, i.e., the key to one might not help you with another.

1) Epsilon Eta Lambda Mu Nu Xi Omicron Pi Tau Upsilon Chi

2) Eta Iota Lambda Nu Rho Upsilon Psi

3) Gamma Epsilon Eta Mu Nu Xi Omicron Rho Upsilon Omega

ilovemyglo 04-17-2002 09:01 PM

I am so clueless as to what that is?!?
Call me stupid and spank me with a spoon.

Optimist Prime 04-17-2002 09:11 PM

are we suposesd to use the greek letters themselves, or use them spelled out in english?

AXiD4Me 04-17-2002 09:23 PM

thought it was me...

I read this post this morning and still can't figure it out. Checked back all day hoping someone would help me out and still no answer!! I thought it was going to just be me that had no idea!! any extra clues???

fuzzie 04-17-2002 09:28 PM

*scratching my head*

I don't get it. My brain shuts down as soon as I leave work. ;)

Doesn't matter!

Another clue: If the last list was set up the same way as the first and second lists, it would be very short: Omicron.

 SO CONFUSED!!!!
I JUST DON'T GET IT!

DeltaBetaBaby 04-18-2002 02:41 AM

Okay, the second list is all the letters that are currently unused by NPC groups. I am still working on one and three, though.

DeltaBetaBaby 04-18-2002 02:42 AM

I am gonna guess that the first list is letters unused by NPHC groups, and the last list is letters used fewer than three times by NIC groups.

1. Xi
2. Nu
3. Xi

is that right?

Bingo! :D

Right on the first one, but not right on the second one. It is, however, about NIC groups, so it's close.

Eh? You're thinking of something more complex then even I could come up with. ;)

DeltaBetaBaby 04-18-2002 01:07 PM

Okay, it is a list of letters that do not START any names in the NIC.

It kinda scares me that I was able to figure these out. Am I a huge loser?

Yay!

Don't worry, if this does make you a loser, it makes me a WAY bigger one for making them up!

You two have WAY too much time on your hands, so I guess I can give you something to do.... anyone up for retyping my 22 page term paper?
Sarah

New brainteasers

How about this list?

Alpha Gamma Delta Epsilon Zeta Eta Iota Kappa Lambda Mu Nu Xi Pi Sigma Tau Upsilon Chi

Or this one?

Alpha Beta Epsilon Zeta Eta Iota Kappa Mu Nu Omicron Rho Tau Upsilon Chi

And lastly, a really hard one...I'll be really impressed if anyone gets this one...

Alpha Delta Rho Sigma Phi

(edited to add a third list)
