Wal-Mart Commercials: LOL!!!

Does anyone else want to throw up when they see the "homey" Wal-Mart commercials? Like the one where the mom of teens spends hours in Wal-Mart with all the fabulous fragrances and clothes and sings in the music department with her daughter? (My teens would leave me permanently if I did that.)

How about the ones where the retirees go to breakfast there every morning for coffee or the day's not complete? Or the 2 thirty-something sisters who almost dance arm-in-arm through the store comparing bargains? The obsessed mom who selects the choicest cuts of meat and tastiest fruits to serve the high school band when they come over? The mom of 4 who says she loves shopping there because life is so hard with 4 young children? (I sneer at her. I spit in her face.) We can't forget the ones where attractive, intelligent, well-spoken employees speak of their commitment to major issues that their store helps with, like the environment and Down's Syndrome.

Maybe it's just the store here but the employees are either 16-year-olds who can't work the register or retirees who ain't too swift either. Forget finding any employees who can help you in their department!

I am dying to run over to Wal-Mart and skip through the store, rhapsodizing over sales, singing along with CDs, and spending hours choosing the best doughnuts or volleyballs.:rolleyes:

Here is my Wal Mart beef. Now I agree with everything that you said Carnation, but for a sportsman, its REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to find someone in the sporting goods department that knows shit from applebutter.

Example. I walk to the sporting goods department not long ago, and asked the clerk for a box of 243 shells, remington, 100 grain, hollow point. Well I might as well have asked her for a 5 minute explination on mans exotential delima. Seems like i have the same runins and car part stores. Or here is one of my favorites. Walk up to a sporting goods clerk and say, "I looked all over the Zoom plastics section and I didnt see and pumpkin seed chartreuse lizards, will you be getting any in soon?" and watch them walk to the same DAMN aisle you just came from and look for them themselves. WTF? Do you think I lied to you or something? I know yall dont feel my pain here but I had to get that out.....

But God bless Wal Mart as a whole. Nothing better than getting blasted and have a sober driver come over and pick you up to go to wally world at 3 am to get that playstation 2 game that you and your buddies HAVE to have right at that second, only to come home, play two games, and pass out on the living room floor.

My favorite Wal Mart commercial is the one with all the sisters who talk about how, when each of them turned 18, their parents took them to Wal Mart to pick out a ring to mark the occasion. If someone bought me a piece of "fine jewelry" from Wal Mart, I would cry.

There's some even better ones about rings.

One is about how this chick picked out her ENGAGEMENT ring from Wal Mart. And how much she loved it, yadda yadda, she woudln't have wanted it from anyplace else.

The Other is about this mom-to-be who never gets jewelry because her husband "doesn't do that" and then he gets her a ring with their birthstones and the one of their baby to be. She's like "i'm so happy i just didn't get an oil change or something"

LOL

My mom has hated those Wal-Mart advertisements since they first started airing...she especially loathes the one where the mom is singing in the store (I think some of you all mentioned that one). My favorite is the one about the engagement ring...I know some people think a ring is a ring, but I would whack a guy over the head if I found out he got me an engagement ring from Wal-Mart. That sounds really awful, but come on--isn't that ring a reflection of how the guy feels? Hmmm...

Anyway, those commercials do nothing to make me want to go in that store. I do it because I have to--Wal-Mart came to my town and ran out all the smaller and locally-owned businesses.

LMAO at this thread!! These commercials are too funny, especially since the Wal-Mart where I live is a complete ghetto. I have seen the one about the Mom who feeds the band when they come over, and also the engagement ring one...lol. I'm sorry, and this may sound stuck-up, but who gets excited about a ring from Wal-Mart?? Once, Mr. XO_Princess joked that he should buy my engagement ring there, and I almost left him.

I have never been to Walmart since they don't have them here.

After seeing that commercial, my boyfriend joked, "That's where I'll get your engagement ring from." I gave him the silent treatment for two hours.

<mean>
I've always joked that the "Wal-Mart Engagement Ring" is new tires for the house
</mean>

My whole family hates the singing mom one - about "feeling like a keeeeed again" I just want to smack that woman.

Wal-Mart usually leaves me violent and in the mood to lobby for involuntary sterilization for anyone not watching their little brats.

At the Super Walmart by my house they have these video monitors all over the place and they are constantly playing those commercials,over and over while you are in the store. Loathe the one about the retiress who have nothing else to do. Proof why the retirement age should be raised.

The garden ones annoy me too.

Creepy.

LOL My Grandpa and his 3 friends -- all late 70s, early 80s actually DO meet at Wal-Mart every morning for coffee and bagels. LOL

TrojanGirl 04-17-2002 03:16 PM

HOw can you forget the familly that is a band? And they get ALL their pictures developed at walmart.. or for that matter the professional photographer who gets all his pics developed there, while he and his wife shop for supplies for their RV? And the guy who owns a daycare who only trusts his van to Walmart? Jeeeez! This seems like propoganda!

That is soooo funny!!! She sounds exactly like that! :D :D

Carnation, I knew there was a reason we were sisters.

When that stupid woman says she sings in a big band, I usually yell back at the TV: "But not very well!"

And I'm convinced that my local Wal-Mart keeps a crabby infant living in a Rubbermaid storage container, and when I enter the store, an employee starts kicking the box to make him whine and cry until I leave.
