who is your favorite founder?

ok i might have stolen this from others threads but its a good topic to right about.

out of all five founders who would you have liked to meet?
well as for me ummmm....thats a hard one, cuz all of them have a special place in my heart. all of our five fouunders were intelligent women who wanted to start a women's organization which promoted sisterhood and if you really want to know who i would choose, it would be elizabeth gorham hoag. maybe because we have the same name and she lived a short life. it would be interesting to hear all of her experiances as a sigma kappa. what about you guys?

Our chapter seems to be huge fans of Mary Low Carver. She's often the topic of conversation (and I am not kidding...weird?) We think she haunts our shower, too. :D

I'm a member of Harmony's chapter, and she's right, we do have an obsession with Mary Low. Anytime anything unexplained happens, within the sorority we say it's the Mystic Bond and Mary Low. We also toast to her everytime we have a toast. Some people might thing we're a little off our rockers, but it's fun and we like knowing that we're sharing a Sigma Kappa moment!

This is a great topic!
I love our founders! They were such amazing women! I would have loved to speak with them about forming the sorority and creating our beautiful ritual.
I think my favorite would have to be Elizabeth. I don't know why but I always felt a special connection to her when we would talk about our founders. Maybe it's because she died so young.
It's funny someone mentioned Mary haunting their shower....We swore there was a ghost that haunted our sorority house. Whenever something weird happened or we heard this crying noise in our showers, we would say "It's Ida!" As if Ida May Fuller was haunting our sorority house. :D

Ida

This thread is superrrrrr old, but I'm bored, so why not?
Beta Sigma is kind of obsessed with Ida... she also explains strange happenings around the house. We have "Ida's Closet" in cold air. She reportedly haunts the closet - it's door mysteriously opens & rattles

My favorite founder has always been Elizabeth Gorham Hoag. I love how she was the youngest and the quote from her mom, "Thee talks too much, Elizabeth." because God knows I too talk way more than I probably should. She died young but for some reason, I always have felt a connection with her.

Francis Mann Hall, whenever we got crazy during recruitment workshops, someone would yell her name to be repsonded to with "Whoooo!" And then we quieted down.

I think my chapter's favorites were Ida and Elizabeth. Ida just seemed cool and Elizabeth, for the same reason as everyone else, because she was the youngest and died young.

HAHA! I love it! My friend and I say that to each other when one of us is trying to study and the other just won't shut up!
