Rivalry?
 

I'm a Sig Ep and where I go to school Sigma Chi and Sig Ep are huge rivals, I was wondering if this is so on other campuses. I once heard a rumor that it was of national interest, but I haven't seen evidence for it at other schools, I even went to a Derby Days party at another school with their Sig Ep chapter. Anyway, just hoping for some feed back.

I am not a Sig Ep or a Sigma Chi as you can tell. I am an Alpha Chi and at UNM there was a huge rivalry b/t the 2. Now, since Beta Xi lost their charter I guess there won't be one anymore. It really sucks that the guys aren't gonna be there anymore.=( How serious is the rivalry there?

At my school the Sig Eps and the Pikes had a huge rivalry going...Rush was a big thing, intramurals were even bigger!
My chapter used to soley hang out with the Pikes but then things changed and the chapter is pretty divided as a whole (relations got better too, so that helped).
I don't think it's a National thing...it's just something that happens from school to school.
Just like each chapter is different from school to school, the rivalries will be also!

Well at my school things seem to change alot. When I was a pledge we didn't get along with the Sig Eps. But at the same time the sig eps and us knew the pikes were dirt bags. My thrid year we got along great with the sig eps, even talk about a party together. But one thing remains the same we hate the Pikes. There is only like 6 frats on campus of those only 3 really count. Our rivalry with the pikes gets out of control alot. We've had bricks through windows people taken to the hospital. I don't think it really has anything to do with the pike name it's mostly the people they have, plus our house is right next to theres so anytime there is a party something goes down. I don't know if big campuses have that problem but the campus is only like 6500 people so it is small

at my school SIgs and Pikes have the biggest rival.

We are big rivals with the Lambda Chis, but part of that is because our house is right next to theirs, and that like to do stupid stuff like throw beer bottles at our house and try to steal stuff at night. Sig Eps lost their charter last year, I don't think there was a big rivalry. We clash with the Pikes in intramurals. We get along the best with the KAs. The other 3 on campus pretty much stay out of everyones way.

its always Beta vs. Sigma Chi, doin stupid stuff, sgma chi intramurals not great at sports tho previously beta won all sports 3 years in a row.


last fall sigma chis big screen tv went missing and they had to watch there rush video on some 19" emerson

I dated a Sigma Chi at another school, but since it was long distance we chose to date other people. I went to a few Sig Ep date parties and it drove the Sigma Chi crazy. He said he would rather me go with any guy from any other fraternity then Sig Ep, so I am guessing there is rivalry at his school. The Sig Eps at Tennessee also said that they can't believe I would be attracted to a Sigma Chi. I don't know if this is all just back and forth stuff between guys, or fraternity rivalry...seems to be more like frat rivals....BUT I LOVE MY SIGMA CHIS!!! :)

At my school Sigma Chi's and Kappa Sig's are huge rival. My brother is a Sigma Chi and he hates it when I go over to their house... It's silly to me, but I guess he's just being a good big brother.

At my school, Sigma Chi gets along with everyone except FIJI, but then again, no one like FIJI. The Sig Eps don't really get along with anyone either. They're the youngest and smallest fraternity on campus, so that may have something to do with it.

rivalries are kind of dumb in my opinion, but here Phi Delta Theta, Beta theta pi, and sigma chi, or the Miami Triad were the biggest rivals, PDT got kicked off, and things between sigma chi and beta were kind of hot because our houses were right next to each others and it was just stupid stuff like fights and other things, all over something that happened a hundred fifty years ago, time went on and people realized how stupid it was and now things are cooled down for the most part

I went to Arkansas State, too. When I was there, our bring rivals were KA and TKE. We got along best with Sigma Pi and ATO. It's funny to go back and see the guys getting along with KA. We hated them and they hated us.

I am a Sigma Chi from Western Illinois University. When I joined a few years back, we had a huge rivalry with the Sigma Pi Fraternity. Our pledge semester we had and exchange w/ them and Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. After that, the rivalry was dead. Starting w/ my pledge class, we wanted to change things because what fun is Greek Life hating everyone else. We became the most popular house on campus and always were invited to other frat parties. That show's alot because of where we stood w/ them the semester before. Having alot of leaders in our chapter, we worked closely w/ other houses on IFC and Greek Week... We even had fraternities showing up at our Derby Day events (which is a competition between sororities for our philanthropy). Sure there are some small rivalries, but it may be between a few guys, not entire chapters going at it.
