I need a favor from the GC crew!...involves listening to music...

Ladies and gents,
Just got off the phone with my cousin, who started up his own band. They are all pretty much 16 year olds who want to be the next creed, but they are trying hard and could use a little encouragement. They just put some new stuff up on mp3.com and needless to say, it would be encouraging if they saw people actually listening to their music and maybe give them feedback. SOoooooooo...i figured i'd turn to you guys to be music critics. Their name is Closer to None, i guess if you search the name, the music should pop up on the site.

I REALLY appreciate this you guys, thanks in advance, he's family and I want to make sure music makes as positive of an influence on him as it has had on me.

Hey! I gave them a listen too. I have to agree with BrownEyedGirl. I think they're definitely headed in the right direction.

Not bad, but they need to up the vocal track. You can't really understand (ie. HEAR) what they are singing.

I was in a band for awhile.. One thing I never knew about bands was the major difference between bands that are really good and bands that play bars is their knowledge of music. In my old band I was the only one that could REALLY read music although the rhythm guitarist was studying chord theory at the time he didn't have a very firm grasp on it.

All we ever got to do was play at bars (although we *did* have some stuff on the internet that they made before I was with 'em). This was really great for me because I was 19 at the time and not only did I get into the bars where they wouldn't check ID, they gave me free drinks also!

Playing music and free drinks... I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Tell them if they want to 'take it to the next level' they need to get their hands on some theory books and devour as much of it as possible. The band I was with didn't do that and as far as I know they're still playing bars.

The digital effects were a nice touch though.. I can hear that they have something good going (and obviously enough money to get some cool toys!). With a little bit of work invested into not-so-fun stuff (learn chord progressions, etc..) they could be really good!
