KMART'S MULTICULTURAL MARKETPLACE
Discount store to focus on ethnic consumers.


(Mar. 29, 2002) *Although the discount store chain filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, K Mart has begun its latest campaign to bring shoppers to the stores.
The company has launched a radio and television campaign targeting African-Americans and Latinos with ads featuring music from artists like Chaka Khan, BeBe Winans, and Jose Feliciano.

K Mart hopes the campaign will help create a "multicultural marketplace" that represents a "crucial element" in the stores growth, according to a report in Billboard. The company has found that 32% of its consumers are blacks and Latinos

They're WACK!!! :rolleyes: Counting on us to bail them out...I don't even shop at K-Mart (the one by my house is CRAPPY as all he double hocky sticks, can't find nothing, ain't even clean!! :eek: )...I prefer "Tar-jay"!

So do I. I have to go to Tar-jay to pick up another Mossimo trench coat in women's sizes. Only $25. But I do want to get some Martha Stewart stuh if it goes on sale.

Actually, the neighborhood K mart is clean (its a Super K Mart), I do my grocery shopping there. Now, the neighborhood Wal-mart is a total mess! It's always crowded, the lines are ridiculous, even at 8:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night!.:mad: :eek:

I avoid it and to to the Big K or the Super K, which probably explains why neither of the stores are slated for closing. I do like Tar-jay too! The household products are of good quality and price. I wish more couples would register with Club Wedd, and give a single girl a break on wedding gifts!;)

Girl yeah... I was questioning how many of us would be shopping at the Multicultural store or whatever. But as far as the store closing sales - do the d@mn thang, LOL!! The commercial was making the sales look so good... and then at the end they put up a Louisiana store address talking about some "At this location only." THEN WHY ARE YOU SHOWING ME THAT MESS IN TEXAS??? That's what I get for watching Fox, but still. :p

Well, send me your list AND YOUR MONEY and I'll buy the stuh for ya. One of the locations closing (in LA) is near my school.

The other one is here in Baton Rouge. It's out of the way, nor is it on my way to my place in NO.

Why would they do that? They must think that we'll believe that sale is so good (Read we are supposedly so cheap) that we will travel across the country to get a good deal?! :rolleyes:

Now, that is the ONLY reason I go to K Mart! Those bathroom rugs are great!

The last time that I went to K-Mart, the door was dirty. I didn't even go inside. How does a door get dirty? Somebody please tell me.

As for the multicultural marketplace, I've already found one, Target.
