Academy Awards 2002
Okay so what did everyone think about them?
Personally I thought they were kind of boring and stopped watching them at about 9-930pm. Who, in your opinion, was the best dressed and who was the worst dressed. Reese Witherspoon's dress was amazing, that was my favorite. I thought, overall, Nicole Kidman looked beautiful, like a barbie doll. I dont know who i would pick for best looking man though, ill have to think about it...... i didnt watch the entire thing and wasnt paying too much attention. I saw Russell Crowe, but he would be last on my list. I dont think he is cute but i do think he is arrogant! |
My chapter has meeting at 8:30 on Sundays so I always miss all the award shows! I guess I'll have to check online for the winners and catch the Fashion File re-runs on E! to see what everyone wore.
Any suprises? |
the fashion wrap up
Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman were gorgeous. Halle was gorgeous and a winner. Jennifer Connelly was a winner wearing an unfortunate dress, and she didn't even look happy. She just won an Oscar, but she couldn't act happy! Cameron Diaz needed a hairbrush. J. Lo had big 80's hair. Gwyneth Paltrow forgot to wear the top of her dress. You could see everything!

Has anyone else noticed that award shows in general have gotten pretty boring lately?
|
I am not one to criticize anyone's choices, but honestly if you are to present yourself in front of millions of viewers...please....
Gwyneth, you are a striking young lady. But if you can afford the dress, you can afford a decent bra! Russel Crowe, while long hair to some woman may be "handsome" and "rugged," some of us just find it unkempt. Please invest in a nice haircut. Miss Lopez, don't quite remember what you were wearing... you're hair was too distracting. And usually I support everything my Puerto Rican people do!;) Jeniffer Connely, I know you were going for something "mellow," but going for the Newsies couture line may have been a bit much. Cameron, please plan accordingly next time so as to not have to get dressed for Oscar night straight from the gym without an opportunity to wash your hair. Renee Z., darling, please don't let Hollywood get to you. I would have rather seen you flaunting beautiful self esteem in a healthy body weight than flaunting a Carolina Hererra on a skeletal frame. As far as the actual awards, I am severely dissapointed in the "Titanic" dejavu for "Lord of the Rings". I was pulling for Harry Potter. |
My big three for best dressed were Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, and Marcia Gay Harden (although her hair was unfortunate.)
I just wanted to slap Cameron Diaz silly for showing up like she'd rolled right out of bed. I was very disappointed in general with the fashions this year...they spend THOUSANDS of dollars on stylists and makeup artists and they don't look fit to leave the house?!?! That's ridiculous. |
Here is a picture from the E! website of Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz...they look hideous!!!

Ok, I thought that I was the only one that noticed that Reese looked a bit on the thin side. She has a wonderful body, but not when she's all skin and bones!
Did anyone catch the comment her husband made when she asked to open the envelope? I just love them both! And they have a daughter I hear... ah.. the blessings of good genes! |
Great thread the Academy Awards were soooo long!!!
I think Whoopie Goldberg was cool this year. Halle Berry's Dress was so beautiful I want that dress. I am not sure what was going on with J Lo, but the 80's pink prom dress and big hair must Go! I think Jennifer C. is very pretty but that dress, was yucky:( Ryan P and Reese W. are such a cute couple oh yea I caught the comment he made, he was like yea well you can open the envelope cause you make more then me  Reese looked a little shocked oh well theres always next yr for the perople who didnt win DGP~Honey~ |
flashback
Now I know why Jennifer Lopez looked familiar. That's how I looked for a prom in 1987! :p

meow, meow, meow
My #1 thought after the Oscars? JULIA ROBERTS, WASH AND COMB YOUR HAIR!! She looked hideous.
I liked the print and material of Cameron D's gown, but it probably would have looked better if she had taken the needle out of her arm first. And Faith Hill should have probably not dyed Easter eggs while wearing her white Oscar gown. Or else she stood too close to a Spin-Art machine. That woman makes my teeth itch. |

I thought the dresses or at least the jewelery was donated by designers that vie for the free media it gives their designs?
I agree that Gwyneth Paltrow's dress did not flatter her. Is that what Resse's Husband said? You can open it because you make more money lol? If that wasn't scripted there might be a "what did you mean by that" Conversation later. Do they ever play a rerun of the awards? I had to miss half of it:p Quote:

Re: flashback
OMG, yes I wore something similar to cotillion in 86 (though not strapless as I was inly 14) and my hair looked just like that-how funny

I flipped backand forth as well. The best moment I thought was when Sidey Poitier was honored. I loved him in Lilies of the Field, To Sir With Love, the show where a blind girl fell in love with him, In the Heat of the Night and my all time fav-Guess Who's Coming to Dinner!
ABOUT TIME!!! Then, Robert Redford, who I LOVED when younger (esp. The Way We Were and Butch Cassidy) just about put me to sleep... Ron Howard-YEAH!!! Randy Newman-I was afraid Paul McCartney would win. Did anyone notice that the applause for Paul's song was more polite than enthusiastic and the expression on his face in reaction to that lack of applause? |
