Ok, I need to post something positive: so yay, here it is! A large number of the sisters in my chapter are very talented, we have singers, dancers, actors, poets, playwrites, instrumentalists, plus we are a pretty diverse group, so there are all kinds of cool cultural talents as well. I'd really like to put all this talent to use, and I'm wondering if maybe it could be done as a fundraising showcase event. Have any of you ever done this before? I'm always good with big ideas, but finding all those imperative small details is always less easy for me. What are the steps involved, and would it be profitable as a fundraiser? The other thing is that our school doesn't really have much of a campus or school unity, what's a good way to really pull in an audience? I'm very excited about this idea, and I'd love to put it into action!

thats a pretty cool I dea, I have seen something similar, my suggestion would be to ask other people on campus to help out for the fact you can pull in maybe more people to participate(school unity) cause then people have friends, and people always invite their friends to functions like those.
I also think some steps involved would be , 1. Where to have the evnt? 2. Who's in the showcase(like whether u deicide to open it up to the public) 3. How much tickets would be 4. The line up of the show . SO it's basically little things like that. Well I hope that helps a bit

Our chapter does Gong Show every year and we do acts as an exhibition thing and the other groups on campus pay entry fees to have their own acts in it. The other groups get gonged off the stage if they are bad and if they are good, they get to finish their performance. We have a panel of local celebrity judges and we award trophies to winners of various categories, i.e. dance, singing, humor, spirit, etc. Everyone who comes to watch has to pay like 5 bucks to get in and there are hundreds of people who come. We fill the main ballroom at our university to standing room only capacity. It is a really good fundraiser and we send the proceeds to DZ Foundation, Center for Hearing and Speech and AIDS Foundation Houston. We also have a program that we pass out detailing who all is participating in which acts and we sell advertising space in the program to local businesses and make money that way too. The businesses also donate door prizes that we give out. It is so fun!
