Unique Programs "AKAtude @ its Best"
 

Greeting Sorors,
I was just wondering if you had some unique ideas for some
on campus programs you can share. We need something different and thoughtful. Here are some from the Zealous Zeta Eta Chapter:

AKAcienma (Movie Night)
AKAwings-N-things (sold food)
Femini-tea (served tea and had girl talk)
The Great Eight ( Had all eight GLO on our yard in a Greek Fashion Show)
A Vision of 20 Pearls (Candle Light Ceremony dedicated to the founders)
The P and G Connection (Had a block party with the Ques)

A suggestion:

Our chapter annually has a potluck, book review. I realize you all are college students, where "cooking" may be a chore and you're already doing alot of reading with your classes and all, but it could work.

Whoever hosts the event has to lead the discussion/supply questions.

Our review is Friday night and I haven't finished the book( I don't like it) :eek:

Programs
 

My chapter had an event that we called AKAday. It was a combination of a campus wide cook out and "old school" field day events (y'all remember that?) such as sack races, the balloon toss, tug of war (we kicked some '06 booty :D ), and some others. We also set up a volleyball net and had that going on. It was something that the entire campus was able to participate in and everyone had a great time. This was something that we did during AKA week though.

- AKApollo Night - just a talent show
- Night of the Stars - lip sync contest
- Mr. Pink & Green Scholarship Pageant - It's sort of a large undertaking, but it's worth it. This year was the 5th annual, and we were able to offer $1000 as a grand prize.
- Sorority Mixer- This was a lot of fun. We had a mixer with all the sororities on campus (NPHC, NPC, etc.) and really got to know each other
- AKA Role Models- Sort of like a crush. We purchased t-shirts for ourselves and for a male we thought to be a role-model. We all wore the shirts to school on a Friday and then the guys came and participated in our regular community service that afternoon.
- Crush- See above, except that the shirts go to someone you would want to go out and have fun with. The event could be anything: we've done parties, basketball games, going out to eat, whatever.
