what would you do if......(GREEK ONLY)

how would you feel. and what would you do if your sister, brother, daughter, father, mother.....close relative was rejected by your sorority or fraternity for a stupid reason? keep in mind that he or she meets all of the qualifications.

I understand that it is a selective process. I would have to say that even though I may be upset I would just let that be because I did not have an influence in the decision.

I don't know...

Honestly...I don't know.....

This is a tough one....especially since I work so hard and diligently for my precious organization....

SeriousAKA 03-18-2002 12:58 PM

I think it would depend on a lot of factors! I would definatley be crushed though

It would hurt, but the organization's will prevails and I would tell my relative to make sure her or his stuff is together and try again.

lovelyivy84 03-18-2002 01:13 PM

there is really no good outcome for the relative if I intervened. There is no way it could work out in a positive manner once I interfered- it would cause drama and resentment.

no interference

Well, my opinion of stupid may not be the same as someoneelses. In fact, the 'stupid reason' may be used in order not to hurt the applicant's feelings.

If I believed the reason was stupid and truly believed that the applicant was worthy, I would help them get their stuff ssssooooo tight that there would be no 'excuse'. However, if I knew the real deal, I would ask them to suck it up and move on.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES would I interfere in the selection process. My org is too precious to me to try to bend the rules and taint the process. That is why I don't see why mothers start acting silly when their daughters are rejected. I see why some applicants don't tell their family until they have succesfully completed the process!

I'd be really :( and . Yet, there isn't much that can be done. ;)

Now, I don't know what "stupid" means in this case, BUT, there are 3 sides to a story: their side, my sister's side, and the truth. I don't think I'd intervene, because I do not know how my sister "behaves" and all that. I wouldn't want to try to build a case for her and then find out....   ya know?

My thoughts exactly. If some parents only knew.
