Question for my Greek Sisters
I have been getting quite a bit of PMs from interests lately with general questions regarding membership. I have always stressed to just be yourself and not do anything out of the ordinary that doesn't feel comfortable to you! What is one bit of advice that you would give to an interest that you consider most important?

advice...a few suggestions
1. Don't use the internet as your primary source of information gathering. 2. Get to know the members where you live/ go to school. 3. Please be discreet. ( no posting you are interested in an organization in public guestbooks, boards, etc. ) I have a story about such a foolish act. ... it happened in NY.

Question for my Greek Sisters
I would say, do not be afraid to talk to the sorors on your individual campuses! :) Because over the internet, you can only be provided with so much information. (which you can find on most SGRho websites) The sorors at each college or university are the ones who are going to make the final decision, so those are the ones you really need to get to know!! :) There is nothing wrong with asking for information, but as a Soror I know that I would be very careful about what I would say to a prospective over the web (PM)....since you really do not know who you are communicating with. And you don't want to tell them something that might fall into the "you are not suppose to know that yet category", or where they could say...well so and so said that it would be this way. Because every chapter is different.

Sorhors and sisterfriends,
You ladies are absolutely right! Folks don't rely on the internet for the only true information about that organization. As interested ladies you have to get out there and mingle amongst the organization that you are interested in joining. You really need to attend different functions the organization is sponsoring and don't forget to do your research the good old fashioned way! Hit the library ladies! There is nothing like picking up the different greek manuals and on a lot of undergraduate chapters' campuses they have the history books and publications from the different BGLOs. Interested ladies the best thing you can be is proactive! Serioussigma22:cool: |
Hello my sisters in Greekness,
I have to agree with those who said talk to a variety of people in different organizations keeping in mind that discretion is always a great thing to practice. All of our NPHC orgs' founders made great strides and sacrifices for our respective orgs. I have heard of people in various orgs basing their decision on superficial reasons such as calls, colors or even what various friends/relatives have chosen. Making a lifetime decision based on these foolish things is sad at the least, and disrespectful at the most:mad:. Another piece of advise would be to support as many greek-lettered functions as possible so that you can REALLY see how the members of the organization work together. Remember each of the "divine nine" are on different paths to the same positive destination--the betterment of our community. Therefore, when you support one, you support all. Hope this helps. |
