Sorority philanthropy event ideas
Anyone have any fun, clever, exciting, different, etc. ideas for philanthropy events during formal recruitment? Trying to expand horizons with some fresh ideas. Thanks! :)

PnguinTrax, thanks for the tip! I did do a search, and didn't find anything too concrete... was hoping for some other ideas if people can just list ideas that worked for their chapter.
Thanks! :) |
We usually do something dealing with children... Last year, (I was recruitment chair) I spent about 50 dollars at the dollar store and bought little toys and stickers... Then I bought brown paper bags and the potential members decorated the bags and filled them with little toys for kids in the hospital. Later, on make a difference day, our new member class brought the toys to a childrens hosptial by out school. It was really cute!

Also, old folks homes are always happy to have visitors. You can go and read mail to old folks and such.. Can be a very moving experience to visit a nursing home or something... (don't know if you're looking for that though)

I would suggest something simple...remember that you want to have an activity that fits the time limit and also gives you a chance to continue conversation with the PNMs. Some things we've done in the past are: decorating IV bag covers for childrens' hospitals, making bookmarks for the elementary schools, and creating felt-hand puppets also for the childrens' hospital.
Since you're also an AGD, you might like this philanthropy idea called "Lick Diabetes." You buy cheap little planter pots (the plastic ones are perfect for this), sugar-free lollipops, stickers, and that planter foam stuff. You put the planter foam in the pot (obviously), put the lollipops in the foam, and decorate the pot with the stickers. Good Luck! :) |
