NO THE FEES ARE NOT TOO HIGH!!!!!
The fees involved in being a part of a major international fraternity are reflective of the costs involved in maintaining one. There are no free rides here. Even then, the majority of the funding required to run a fraternity such as ours comes from alumni and investments, NOT from undergraduates! As I explained in a different thread on this same topic, according to your numbers, the total annual costs breaks down to a meager $217 per member per year ($21.70 per member per month for a 10-month school year). This is NOT an unreasonable amount. I pay more for my cell phone each month than I pay to the headquarters of my Fraternity. To me, it's worth every damn cent. Then again, to someone who's more interested in joining for the stereotypical social benefits and for the opportunity to whine about EVERYTHING, people like yourself apparently, ANY amount is too high because you're more interested in letting everyone else do the work and not putting in your fair share. Try doing your homework next time, you'll sound a lot more intelligent that way. |

hoosier, it's really amusing how you only post about supposedly "negative" aspects of Greek Life..including hazing crap, and now this? Seriously, this sort of thing is not wanted!

Didn't you post this somewhere else?
Don't you think we get your point by now? Don't you think that the SAEs have already decided that it's worth the "fortune" you say it is? Isn't it time you realized you're not going to change any of our minds on this, and that your one-sidedness isn't making any believers out of anyone else? Collin |
hey i dont know who youre kidding, but part of joining the fraternity is financial, and im sure you knew before you got involved what your fees were going to be. hundreds of thousands of people pay their dues without complaining and for one, i am glad to pay it, knowing that it is going to the national office. if it is such a problem for you to pay it get a job and stop whining

Just heard about this thread,
Interesting enough that someone would complain about a voluntary bill- Hoosier should take a look at any college bill for all of the ridiculous fees that you pay for things you may be opposed to or dont use. At least with fraternity dues- YOU PAY FOR A SERVIE YOU ASKED FOR!! By the way- where did you de-pledge at? Ass. Fraternally Jason Lenox |
Bro,
Fees may seem kinda high, but right now there are no workable solutions to lower the fees/costs of running SAE. A group called SAE Blue thinks they can cut dues in half, but have yet to state a plan that would actually work for the fraternity. Their only evidence rests on the beliefs of a few province archons who couldn't get their shit together and are pissed at the ESR. Frankly, finances have always been what distinguished Greeks from other student organizations on campus. Yes, they are fairly high. Are they too high? Possibly; but until anyone can present a plan with solid figures that would keep the largest fraternity in the nation running as smoothly as it has been in its proud history, there will be no change to the current fiscal policy. |
