My Hope for Greek Life

I ran across this article on Facebook and thought I would share it here with ya'll. I know that many on here have talked about tiers and how they don't matter and not to listen to "tent talk" during recruitment.

So, I thought you would enjoy what one sorority girls perspective is on her Hope for Greek Life.

Enjoy!

That was good! I went on to read some of her other articles. Sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders!!! Thanks for sharing UKMOM14!

Yes she is but that's not why I posted it and certainly didn't or don't want anyone to think that's why I was posting to promote her writing for more than what it is - her hope for the future of the Greek system.

LOVED the article. Thank you for sharing. BTW my daughter is also "an aspiring Tina Fey" ;-)

I don't have a problem with the posting, but to say you came across it on facebook is somewhat disingenuous.

Your daughter is a lovely young lady with a lot going for her.

LOL... that is great! I love that girls these days find it okay to be themselves...funny and all. Good luck to your daughter!

I can certainly understand your feeling that way and in hindsight I should have worded it differently. I guess my initial fear or thought was it would be taken that I was trying to promote her because she is my daughter and that was not my intention at all. I just feel very strongly with the message and wanted to message to be read and not that it was my daughter. Yes, I am proud of what she does and who she is but the message was bigger than her I guess is what I was trying to say.

I do apologize if I offended you. That certainly was not my intention.

It's okay. Next time you'll have no problem sharing "take a look at this post my daughter wrote" (or whatever, I am not wording this the way I intend it, my bad). FYI We have another GC member who writes about fraternity history and she posts here about her blog. She is a Pi Beta Phi, too. I post about my quilts but that doesn't have anything to do with Greek Life (well, it will eventually, but not at the moment).

I did like what your daughter wrote.

Great article. I also liked her article "The 12 Emotional Stages of Sorority Recruitment". Too cute.

Among the links to other Odyssey articles, I saw the title "Joining a Sorority Made Me a Better Feminist" (different author). I thought, "Oh, I'll read that one too", knowing nothing about the author. Well written article, insightful and thought this woman has a good head on her shoulders.

Then, saw the end of the article and got all choked up.

I wasn't long into the article when I said to myself, "That sounds like MY chapter! Sounds like Chi Omega!" " It was the diversity in Chi Omega that put them way up on the top of my list during rush. I am very happy to read that the chapter of the author of this piece embraces these same values. Our Symphony endures.

Thanks so much for sharing!
